New features for the next version of IDS

A while ago I asked for features wanted in the next version
of IDS and said I would present it to IBM.

I'm arranging the next usergroup meeting and I still have to
finish the next version of the faq.

I know I won't get around to it so can someone please
go back though the posts and build the list for me and
post it to this thread?

Thanks guys,

David.

In a recent thread, RKC (correctly, I believe), took issue with my use of multiple parameters in a Property Let procedure to pass dimensional arguments on the basis that, although it works, it's not obvious how the code works if you don't know the intricacies of the Property Let/Get syntax. Likewise, I dislike (and code to minimize the use of) the VB/VBA syntax of returning a value by referring to the function name as if it were a...

I've read the new features that are coming to the next VC and they all sound fine. But I was missing new standard C++ features, will the features like export still not be implemented? What about C features like designated initializers? struct X { int x; int y; }; X x = { .x = 2, .y = 3 };

I have a read-only datagrid that I use to display a heirarchal model of three tables (The example I am setting up uses the Customer, Orders, and Order Detail tables from the northwind database). I load the three tables into a single dataset and then create the relationships. What I want to do is use a separate grid that would display the selected record from the datagrid only, but still would be bound to the dataset. The first grid...

Hello. Are there any resources out there (because I couldn´t find any) concerning the usage of assemblies with different features in each version? In other words: I´ve got one assembly A that is using assembly B - B exists in different versions. Now I want to make it possible for A to ask B what features it supports or what data it can give to A.

What is the schedule for visual studio, C# and .NET framework? I get the impression C# V3 is not released yet. I found some good web pages for the various new features of C#. What are some favorite pages for the latest features of winforms, asp.net, ADO.NET and the .NET framework? Thanks, Siegfried

If you want to visit each item in an Array, you have two alternatives: Use a For Each..Next loop, using a Variant to retrieve each value in turn. Use a For...Next loop, looping from the Lower Bound to the Upper Bound of the Array. For Each...Next seems simpler because you need not worry about retrieving the Lower and Upper Bounds- the loop takes care of that for you. For Each varValue In alngValues j = varValue Next varValue...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
