performance & behaviour question

I would like to have some information about the cooperation between DB2
Connect for .Net en DB2 data base for z/OS390.

We have a scenario where a .net client will call a DB2 Stored Procdure
through the DB2 Connect Gateway. In the stored procedure a cursor is created
and opened. Our .net application does the actual fetching.

The question is what happens with the cursor when the .net data provider
closes the DB2 Connect connection. Will the cursor be closed or will be kept
open because of the effects of Connection Pooling which keeps an DB2 Thread
running while waiting for a new client? Will there be a new cursor everytime
a .net client connects to call a stored procedure?

thanks,

Filip

Howdy, I currently develop the javascript toolkit qooxdoo (http://qooxdoo.sourceforge.net), some of you heard it already. We have discovered a slowdown on Internet Explorers performance when creating objects with some data and store them in a global object registry. It take some time to get this example extracted from our codebase. The attached file (take a look at it please) shows the exact problem. The time for each object increases...

I've encountered a troublesome inconsistency in the C-language Perl extension I've written for CPAN (Digest::SHA). The problem involves the use of a static array within a performance-critical transform function. When compiling under gcc on my big-endian PowerPC (Mac OS X), declaring this array as "static" DECREASES the transform throughput by around 5%. However, declaring it as "static" on gcc/Linux/Intel INCREASES the throughput by...

In math this expression: (a < b) && (b < c) would be described as: a < b < c But why is it that in C these two expressions evaluate to something different for the same values of a, b and c?

In spite of the obvious advantage of not encountering a NullReferenceException unexpectedly in your running program is there an offset cost in performance for using String.IsNullOrEmpty() over != ""? If so, would it be of any great significance if a large number of strings were being tested over the run of an application? Ken Wilson Seeking viable employment in Victoria, BC

I have a C# asp.net project in which I create meta keywords dynamically. I have a problem with "&" character. When the page is rendered, the "&" character is converted into "&". Is there any way to stop this? I already once posted this question and did not get any useful help. Any help with this issue will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

char array; scanf("%19s", &array); I know this is wrong because it's a type mismatch, where scanf expects a pointer to char and gets a pointer to an array of 20 char. I know that question 6.12 of the C FAQ says that it's wrong for that very reason. What I don't know is where the standard tells me conclusively that it's wrong. What I also don't know is somewhere that this type mismatch will break in practice.

Hello, I'm using Pythonwin and py2.3 (py2.4). I did not come clear with this: I want to use win32-fuctions like win32ui.MessageBox, listctrl.InsertItem ..... to get unicode strings on the screen - best results according to the platform/language settings (mainly XP Home, W2K, ...). Also unicode strings should be displayed as nice as possible at the console with normal print-s to stdout (on varying platforms, different

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
