DB2 UDB Enterprise Edition V7.1 License Question

Hello:

I have a question regarding my copy of DB2 Enterprise Edition 7.1

My business acquires used software fairly often. And we came across a
copy of DB2 Enterprise Edition 7.1 and i want to know if you can tell
me what type of license this will allow us to use the product as.

Here is what the license card says:

IBM DB2 UDB Enterprise Edition V7.1
(1) Processor, (1) Host

Being a processor license. Does this give us unlimited client
connections to the database server?

Thank you!

Yes it does.
However, be aware that this code level is out of service for more than a
year and no support available unless you contract for it and I don't even
know if you can.
DB2 EE supports unlimited client connections from a license perspective.
Yours is licensed for a single processor.
It also supports DB2 Connect to DRDA hosts to act as gateway.

However, version 7.2 is a free upgrade to 7.1, simply by applying Fixpak 3.
After applying Fixpak 3, FP 13 (or something close) should be applied.

7.2 has officially been out of service since end of September 2004, but
rumors are that it is still supported by IBM.

This, however, assumes that your server has only one processor. If it
has more than one, you must upgrade the license. And it is correct that
this version is out of support for quite awhile now. V8 is current.

Hello:

Thank you! all for the supportive answers. I know Microsoft SQL with
(1) processor licensing it entails unlimited connections to the server.
Only wanted to verify this was the same with DB2. My server only has
(1) processor, so i'm ok license wise. I'll have to find out where to
download that free upgrade to 7.2.

Thank you! so much for the help.

Not all editions of DB2 have unlimited connections, but EE is one of the
ones that does.

You can download the fixpaks here for your operating system. The
instructions are in the FP read me file.

After installing the base code that you have, you must install FP3 next to
bring it up to version 7.2, and then you can install FP13. I would recommend
that you not stay at FP3 because of the number of things fixed between FP3
and FP13. It is a little easier if you don't create any databases (including
the sample database) until you have finished installing and upgrading the
code to the latest FP.

Hello, I bought Visual Studio 6.0 Professional several years ago as a college student with the academic price/license. Microsoft's Upgrade Eligability page (http://tinyurl.com/3mtga) does list VS 6.0 Professional as an upgrade, but it mentions nothing about the academic license. Does anyone know of a Microsoft page that states whether the academic version may or may not be upgraded to a single license of Visual Studio .NET 2003...

Hi, I have purchased a MSDN enterprise subscription, and was wondering, do you get any free CAL's with the WIN2003 Enterprise server edition software? If so I cannot determine the CAL licence keys. I have successfully registered both the OS and the License server, It's just I thought you got 5 CAL's free per Server OS license. TIA Mezzmaster.

I am having some problems in the process of moving an Access back-end to an SQL Server back-end. Everything works but there are severe problems of response times when the number of users builds up. At present we are using the Developer version before committing to the Enterprise version. BOL (quoted below) seems to suggest that, apart from licensing, they are the same. Can anyone please confirm that this is so. If not, what is the...

Dear All, We have a database which contains many tables which have millions of records. When We attach the database with MS SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition Server and run some queries (having joins, filters etc.) then they take very long time to execute while when We execute same queries on Enterprise Edition then they run 10 times faster than on standard edition. Our database does not use any features which are present in Enterprise

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
