Guide to Clustering using Linux and multiple machines

Hello,

Since DB2 Cluster Certification Guide is out of print and I cannot seem
to get my hands on a copy, is there a publication that would give me a
"cookbook" approach to setting up a cluster using Linux and multiple
machines?

I came across a couple of things, but they all assume one honking great
AIX box with multiple SPs and that sort of thing.

We have two (soon to be many) Dell Servers running Linux, and I'm a bit
stumped on creating the instance on the second machine and then
"joining" the two together.

Any help will be appreciated.

I posted the following link before, did you take a look at the papers in
there.
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data...ux/papers.html

I see 3 docs that address exactly what you are asking for:
Redbook: Up and Running With DB2 for Linux
Redbook Draft: DB2 ICE Deployment Guide
Fastpath to installing DB2 UDB on Linux Clusters

Redbook: Up and Running With DB2 for Linux

This one definitely for clustered DB2 on Linux. We used it step-by-step.
If you print it out it's over 300 pages, but an essential guide.

It's a bit confusing in a couple of spots. One note, you will have to have
NFS, and the "r" commands installed. Goes a bit against the security police
to have the r-commands installed but won't work without 'em. Make sure
rpc.statd is running as well. If in doubt call tech support they were
excellent. We installed on Dell PowerEdge 6650's and it works quite nice.

There's a new redbook a couple of days old:

DB2 Integrated Cluster Environment Deployment Guide

at (wrapped URL)
http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/redp...sg246376.html?
Open
Abstract:
The IBM DB2 Integrated Cluster Environment for Linux is a completely
integrated, high-performance, and pre-tested solution that
incorporates best-of-breed software, hardware, and services. This IBM
Redbook provides you with the technical details of the DB2 Integrated
Cluster Environment.

We begin with a general overview of DB2 Integrated Cluster
Environment and the fundamentals of DB2 in a Linux cluster
environment, followed by a discussion of hardware options for cluster
ingredients that constitute DB2 Integrated Cluster Environment and
considerations for their selection. We cover the planning and
database design considerations for building a DB2 partitioned
database that is both flexible and scalable and provide the
implementation details of DB2 Linux clusters.

This publication also cover the new autonomic features of DB2 UDB
V8.2 and system tools monitoring. It describes components and
possible configurations of a high-availability solution and provides
implementation details of a failover protection in an DB2 Integrated
Cluster Environment. At the end, we discuss scalability in the DB2
Integrated Cluster Environment, including some guidance in planning
for the growth of a business and database. We also examine a number
of scaling strategies in more detail and provide the steps involved
in scaling a database.

First of all, I'm an Asian and I need to input Japanese, Korean and so on. I've tried many PHP IDEs today, but almost non of them supported Unicode (UTF-8) file. I've found that the only Unicode support IDEs are DreamWeaver 8 and Zend PHP Studio. DreamWeaver provides full support for Unicode. However, DreamWeaver is a web editor rather than a PHP IDE. It only supports basic IntelliSense (or code completion) and doesn't have anything...

Hello, I have what may seem a bit of an odd question, but here goes: Is there any advantage to having an operating-system clustered set of machines running DB2, as opposed to using DB2's PDF to "cluster" machines? The discussion came up due to a cluster of Linux servers we have which are not being used very much. The suggestion was to use them as a database cluster. I actually had no idea on how to answer this question, since I...

I am interested in finding out about Enterprise scale Postgres installations and clustering, especially on Linux. Essentially I would like to know the possibility that Postgres can store the database data in a central location (ex: on a SAN fiber array) and have a cluster of machines sharing processor/RAM/IO bandwidth to do the application processing. Or perhaps there is another solution similar to what www.emicnetworks.com have...

Hi, Does anybody know of a software package that allows for several servers, running asp.net 2.0 to be clustered, regardless of where they are located (ie. without a hardware load balancer). This way one could link two or more dedicated servers, perhaps even running on different hosts. Does something like this exist? Thank you for your time!

I think this question has been asked number of times. However, I am looking for some specific information. Perhaps some of you can help close the gap. Or perhaps you can point me towards right direction. Perhaps this group can help me fill in ms-sqlserver related following questions. 1. Do this database have data Clustering capabilities? 1a. If yes, what mechanism is used such as shared disk, share nothing, etc.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
