steps to upgrade to 8.1

sea
Hi, I have db2 workgroup 7.2 and am planning to upgrade to 8.1
workgroup server edition. Could someone please tell me if the order in
which I do this as listed below is correct?

ON THE SERVER
---------------
1. stop all db2 services
2. install db2 8.1 (I guess this should automatically upgrade the
earlier version?)
3. install the latest fixpak for 8.1

ON THE CLIENT
----------------
1. install 8.1 runtime client or administation client
2. install the same fixpak version on the client as on the server

Is there anything else I need to do?

Thank you very much!

which I do this as listed below is correct?

ON THE SERVER
---------------
1. stop all db2 services On Windows, the DB2 Install will give you an option to stop all DB2 services 2. install db2 8.1 (I guess this should automatically upgrade the
earlier version?) On Windows yes - on UNIX/Linux you have to migrate the instance using
db2imigr 3. install the latest fixpak for 8.1 - on Windows, you can get a complette image of the latest fixpak and
skip step 2 - see my other reply to your question on clients

4. migrate databases using the migrate database command

ON THE CLIENT
----------------
1. install 8.1 runtime client or administation client
2. install the same fixpak version on the client as on the server - on Windows, you can get a complette image of the latest fixpak - see
my other reply to your question on clients
3. you should rebind - if you read about the MIGRATE DATABASE command in
the DB2 Command Reference manual, it discusses optional post-migration
steps (i.e. db2rbind, updating statistics, etc.)

Is there anything else I need to do?

Thank you very much!

Hello, I am trying to figure out how to determine if I have fixed an upgrade warning. If I delete the green text then the upgrade warning goes away. However, I would expect it to come back after I rebuild if I haven't changed any of the code. Can anyone clarify what actions to take with the upgrade warnings? Thanks

I am working on a project "ABC" which needs to be upgraded from .NET framework 1.1. We are thinking about upgrading it to .NET framework 2.0. The reason for this is that we have some unmanaged modules (made in VC++) shared with other project "XYZ". The project "XYZ" is upgraded to .NET framework 2.0 from .NET framework 1.1. Now to have the compatibility, forcibly project ABC also have decided to upgrade to .NET 2.0. But I feel why not...

Hi everybody. A very basic web page using an ScriptManager and a RoundedCornersExtender fails loading at a shared hosting environment. In my local server, such page loads correctly. I'm almost sure that a wrong web.config is the reason. The site is hosted at Brinkster and they say they don't have a web.config

I attempted to upgrade my SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition (32 bit) to SQL Severer 2005 EE 32 bit and while the prereqs passed the installer will not let me select the version 8.00.x (2000 SP4) database that it finds on the server. When I ckeck the install details it tells me that "Your upgrade is blocked becuase of cluster upgrade rules" I have tried searching the MS site but none of the entries I found appear to apply.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
