wondering what python resources might be available for python-based
legacy system access, particularly to MVS, DB2 and Adabas. What
additional pieces might be needed to implement this access?
Python would be running on Unix and need to do Adabas and DB2 access.
Screen-scraping is a common technique. Any screen scraping modules for
python? I assume this would require an SNA gateway on the unix system
to enable 3270 emulation? True?

A question. I'm not a programming professional, but here goes....
We have a number of large systems running in an IBM MVS evironment.
Mostly DB2 tables, with some older stuff in IMS.
We were wondering if it is possible to connect to these DB2 tables
with a PC via some sort of ODBC connection.
Anyone have experience with this??

I need to programatically determine if an MVS DB2 subsystem is define
and, if is defined, is it active. I can do this easily for local DB2
subsystem names by looping through MVS system control blocks. This
technique does not work for shared subsystems. Does any one no how to
do this?

I am trying to find a way to successfully call ftruncate() on an
existing MVS dataset.
I understand it takes a integer file descriptor, but fail to see how
to get one for an open MVS data set.
System is running Z/OS and we are not wanting to use HFS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to pad a string with leading character zeros. There seems
to be a difference between the behavior of sprintf on Windows
(Microsoft Visual C++ .NET) and on MVS. Can anyone explain the reason
for this? Or am I doing something incorrectly? Thanks in advance!

I have a bunch of tables (peopleSoft tables) and i want to migrate them to an Oracle 10i server.
I'm looking for a fast process like an Export from DB2 (MVS z/OS V7) and a load data to my Oracle Server. I'm facing problem because DB2 MVS V7 can't export data in an ASCII mode and as a consequence i'm not able to load data in oracle...
I can only use the IXF format that is not supported by Oracle server ...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
