measuring internodal communication time on Linux

I am trying to diagnose some partitioned db performance problems and
am trying to figure out how to measure how much time is spent on
communicating between the nodes. I'm seeing long execution times, but
short CPU times.

I know how to measure the IO times, but can't figure out how to
measure the network times involved.

This is running on a Linux cluster.

thanks

Jack

Hello. I'm doing a Rubik's Cube timer, so I need a function to measure 100ths of a second. I've browsed through the library reference of python.org, but I didn't find anything that struck me as 'the perfect fit'. Either it was system dependent, or it was too grainy (lo-res), or... something else. so, I need a function which satisfies (in order of importance): 1. It can be used to measure time in the range of up to approximately 1

Situation: I have to connect with my Windows 2000 server using VS.NET 2003 and C# and connect to a remote Linux server at another company's office and query their XML file. Their file may be updated every hour or so. How can I do this easily? I would like to use secure communication even encryption if possible. I would query and insert locally only the newest records found in that XML file to an xml or MS access db.

Folks, I have DB2 UDB 7.2 EE installed on AIX 5.2 system. I think I am at latest fixpack, see output of lslpp below. I have also installed DB2 UDB 7.2 EE on RedHat Linux 7.3 I believe that is also at the latest fix pack, see rpm output below. The database is on AIX system and on the Linux system it is cataloged as remote database.

I have jdk1.3 already...

Hi! I'm currently implementing a program which measures voltages through an external USB-AD-converter. It should output those values as time/voltage pairs. My problem is to measure the time to output (time elapsed since program start would do just fine) - it should be as precise as possible, as there may be only differences in milliseconds between two measurements.

Hi, I'm trying to find a decent way to measure program running time. I know clock() is probably the standard way of doing it but clock_t overflows too quickly. The target program running time ranges from a few seconds to a day. Is there a decent+portable way to deal with this? Thank you.

Hi guys, I have tried a lot of code and read forums discussing about C or C++ functions that measures time in microsecond, but there still seems to be confusions about that. Can anyone tell me again how do I get the time up to 1 microsecond in resolution? It doesn't need to be very precise in measuring the time, but at least need to be able to measure 1 microsecond the minimum. I saw in some forum that says usleep() gives microsecond delay,...

I'm a newbie at this, and have searched a lot but can't find something that seems appropriate for measuring a recurring elapsed time. Creating an object with: var mydate = new Date(); seems clear, as is creating a second: nowTime = new Date(); and getting a difference between the two. My quesiton is what if you have many, maybe thousands of intervals you wish to measure? Should I do: nowTime = new Date(); with every pass of a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
