Greetings,
first post, but have read many times for various CF questions.
My goal is, using CF and MS-SQL 2k, the following:
[I already have primary key for this table] and -
I need to have either CF or MS-SQL upon a record insert, generate a sequential 3 digit number, that is incremented by 1.
However, this number needs to check the date, as if it is the first of the month, it should reset the counter back to one. [Each record will have other unique fields, like primary key, and a datetime entry, so I am not worried about duplication]
Essentially this is a "Job #" field.
I am not too sure the best/correct way to accomplish this goal-- MSSQL or CF? From Stored Procedures, Sequences, to various "Select MAX" statements... [and yes, googled a tremendous amount the past few days]
I appreciate any help/suggestions this forum can provide

I think the best method can be as follow.
Before inserting the new row, you must match the last inserted row with the current day. And if it is changing reset the counter back to 1.
Algorithm can be something like - SELECT day,counter FROM last inserted row
-
if (cur_day==1 AND cur_day<>day)
-
new_counter = 1
-
else
-
new_counter=counter+1

Folks,
I am having problem with an application that uses static SQL,
the application basically browses through the table given start and
end key most of the time it is processed from begining to end.
The db2expln tells me that there is no Data or Index prefetch.
I am running DB2 UDB 8 on AIX 5.3, and I am using DMS tablespace on
raw logical volumes on a SAN.

I have a 200 record database that includes a date/time field,
AnnivDate, for a wedding anniversary. AnnivDate has nulls and some
incorrect year data. I have been creating the Access database using
data imported from an Excel file and the person entering into Excel
only cared about the month and day portion and Excel added the current
year to the field value. I want to produce a report that shows
upcoming anniversaries using a parameter...

New to Access here. I inherited a db that has the first column as an
automatically generated sequential number. I want to bump it up, but
for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it. Is this type of
generation a built in function of Access? I'm sure it can be written
manually, but I doubt someone took the trouble to do it...
Can someone point me in the right direction to figure out how to change
this number?
Thank you one and all!...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
