Choosing between two different tech jobs?

1 New Member
Hi All,

I am verry confused to decide which comapny to join.
I have 2 offers at hand from 2 companies.
One is in networking domain but DNS application layer protocol maintance and bug fixing project. The skills are c,Linuxand python.

Another company in C,UNIX,SQL in financial domain.

Can anyone tell which one is good?

Thanks,

It depends what you want to do.

Do you want to be in the financial industry? The pressure there is higher, and the turnover in the industry is also greater, however if you are driven purely by money, it usually pays a bit better.

Being with a company that is in the networking space could be good, however it would mostly be commenting already written code and reading other people's code to perform bug-fixes. This would be highly ticket-based which I personally dislike, but does offer some advantages.

Hi, (this is a probably a bit OT here, but comp.lang seems rather desolated, so I'm not sure I would get an answer there. And right now I'm in the middle of learning Python anyway so...) Anyway, my question is: what experience you people have with working with different languages at the same time? Actually I did myself many years ago, on my Commodore machines, where

Hi, I want to be a professional python programmer, unfortunately I'm working on technical support and don't have the time/patience to start making projects my self. I tried to apply to some Python positions but unfortunately sometimes to work as a programmer is really hard in this world, every employee requires professional experience and you can't really start as a beginner.. I'm planning to save some money and attend a course in any...

Was reading an article the other day (now offline for some reason) which included some "new lines of code"-statistics, this is different, but shows the same trend: http://www.simplyhired.com/a/jobtrends/trend/q-asp,+jsp,+php,+ruby,+python,+coldfusion,+perl http://www.indeed.com/jobtrends?q=perl%2Cpython%2Cphp%2Cruby What happened?

Do any problems come up when using a static variable in a cron job? Assuming the cron job is called every 5 minutes for one year. Assume I've got an array that stores the names of which users are logged in to a particular website at the current moment. Would it cause me trouble if I made this array static? If it would cause trouble, what's the easiest way to persist the data? I could use a database, but that seems heavy handed for a 20...

I have a database that is tracking stays in medical lodging. We enter the stays based on the patient receiving medical care. I have a patients table with a parent/child relationship to a guests table. When a patient's family returns, they don't necessarily come with the same guests. For example: Joe is in the hospital, and his kids, Sally and Jeff stay with us. They check out, and a few weeks later Joe is readmitted, but only sally comes...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
