Is it possible to have a stored procedure in database A while calling
it from database B and have it manipulate the tables in database B
(whatever the calling database happens to be)?
We have a large-scale app that uses many complex stored procedures,
and as of now, we're copying the SPs to every new database that is
created, and it will soon become a nightmare for propagating updates
and fixes. We'd like to keep a master set of the SPs...

Hi,
I would like to have 1 stored procedure call another stored procedure
(which contains multiple select statements) and then be able to access
the 3 result sets.
Example
Create Procedure .
exec Multiple
--manipulate result set A

Hello people,
Thanks to Serge, PM, Knut and a host of others I have now successfully
completed my very first SQL Stored Procedure. Takes some 13mins or so
to run, but that was expected as it does a fairly significant number
of small single select and inserts from various cursors. I am very
pleased with the results and can find no errors after a few days
debugging a couple of never ending loops.
Interestingly though, while processing...

I've created a system or external trigger on an AS/400 file a.k.a DB2 table.
(Note this is an external trigger defined with the ADDPFTRG CL command, not
a SQL trigger defined with the CREATE TRIGGER statement.) I've also defined
a SQL stored proc, and the trigger is set to call this SP. I've posted the
simplified source below. I can manually call the stored proc, and the
external trigger is created without any errors. However, when I do...

When I'm reading from or writing to a network socket, I want to use a
struct to represent the structured data, but must use an unsigned char
buffer for the call to sendto() or recvfrom().
I have two questions:
1. Is it generally safe to "overlay" the structure on the buffer,
e.g.:
unsigned char buffer;

If I am not mistaken (but please do correct me if I am) a webpage is buffered into the cache of the machine before it is loaded into the browser.
Question: (if the above statement is true)
How can I manipulate(read, write) the stored page in the cache before it can be loaded into the browser.
NOTE: "It would be in C# way if possible. "
Please help me in this, I am trying to manipulate a page before it is loaded into my self-made...

Hello clc,
I have a buffer in a program which I write to. The buffer has
write-only, unsigned-char-at-a-time access, and the amount of space
required isn't known a priori. Therefore I want the buffer to
dynamically grow using realloc().
A comment by Richard Heathfield in a thread here suggested that a good
algorithm for this is to use realloc() to double the size of the buffer,
but if realloc() fails request smaller size increments...

Here is a problem I would like some opinions on. I have a stored
procedure (I suspect that the problem exists for other procedures as
well, but I haven't verified it). First time it runs (each day) it
takes 8-10 minutes to run. If I rerun the procedure after a while it
runs in 2-4 minutes. The SP doesnt update any data itself, but of
course others do but that difference in data is irrelevant for the
problem. My first thought was that it...

Initial issue: read in an arbitrary-length piece of text.
Perceived issue: handle variable-length data
The code below is a suggestion for implementing a variable length
buffer that could be used to read text or handle arrays of arbitrary
length. I don't have the expertise in C of many folks here so I feel
like I'm offering a small furry animal for sacrifice to a big armour
plated one... but will offer it anyway. Please do suggest...

I have a buffer, which has a header and then data. There is some
leeway space between the header and the data in the buffer.
I have to add some more data which is a struct and I know the size of
it. So if I get a pointer to the beginning of the start of data, go
back the size of my struct, can I just put the address of my struct ?
Packet A -- Header + Data
Struct B --size X bytes

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
