I work on a project using QT and while I don't actually use QT myself the other developers seem to swap between Windows and Linux with very little effort. It is a multi-platform library it should be a simple mater of just revuilding on the new platform.

Hi Group, I am not an experienced programmer at all. I've learned html and css well enough to hand-write simple websites. I'm now looking to move to the next step. Initially, I'd like to do 3 things: 1) Generate web pages This one's fairly obvious maybe. 2) Create a simplified translation package specific to my line of work:

Hi folks, I would like to create an email client and organizer like MS Outlook, and I would give myself a year to do this, in the evening & week-ends. I have been looking for information on how to do it, and I found out I can develop such a program using C, C++, or Delphi. I am new at programming, I just know some PHP, and JavaScript that I use for my job, I like it. I don't know other languages, such as object-oriented languages. What...

I am giving some thought to applying for some jobs that want people with Java and C++ experience. I have been writing Java for several years and am fluent enough that I don't have to get help with Java very often. I have no real C++ experience and not much C experience for that matter. However, the core Java statements are "borrowed" from C and C++ has often been called "C with classes". It seems to me that it shouldn't take very long to...

Hi Everyone I would like to get into software developent using a programming language like c++, java or pl/sql for oracle. I have no idea where to start from. Which language is there more demand for. Looking at jobs there seems to be a better chance in getting a java job rather than a oracle or c++ job. Also is java and oracle a good combiantion?

I'm sure this question has been asked a hundred times. I did a google search and found some older post and some mixed reviews. I am looking for an updated opinion on which book is the best for learning Visual C++ .NET. A little background, I have been programming C# for the past year and I was a Visual Basic programmer for about 5 years before that. I created a new project in C++ .NET and it is like night and day compared to C#. I was...

Hello everyone, Can anyone recommend a good online site to learn PHP? The W3Schools website is quite lacking - leaves much to be desired. I'm sure there are many places, but which ones are good? I currently run a site with an extensive photo gallery. Hundreds of photos. Right now I have a system which the thumbnails are laid out in a table. You click on a thumbnail and you see the full size picture. That full size picture is in its...

Hi, I have been "programming" in the .net environment and ide for a few years and I am looking to make the switch over to python. I have absolutely no python experience whatsoever. I am looking for a python guru who has instant messenger or gtalk or whatever who can meet me online in the mornings, give me some direction for the day and then answer some questions here and there online throughout the day. This would not be time consuming...

I really wanted to learn C++ thats why i took the initiative to self- study. I am currently following the tutorial at this site: http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial.html#c++tutorial but im finding it a little lacking in some information i need, like data types, native c++ objects and c++ functions. I am on linux and have been compiling and running my c++ samples using the G++ compiler, is that Ok? I mean will C++ code written in linux ...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
