Presumably a trivial question...
I want to write trace information from a web service to a
log file using the Trace Class. Is this possible without
closing and opening the Trace in every single web method?
Code:
public Webservice()
System.IO.FileStream ts = new
System.IO.FileStream(traceFile,System.IO.FileMode.Append);
Trace.Listeners.Remove

Up to this point, our application has been using Windows File Sharing to
transfer files to and from our application document repository. This
approach does not lend itself toward a secure environment and so we are in
the process of imposing a WebService gateway between our application client
and the repository.
(As a starting point, the WebService won't be a richly featured application
server; business rules are still implemented in the...

I've noticed that if you enter the following code in the codebehind
page for an .aspx page, it won't compile because the call to
Trace.Write() is not valid except in methods of a class derived from
System.Web.UI.Page. Two questions:
1) I don't know much about C# but I was under the impression that if
certain classes and functions were available in a namespace (as the
result of a "using" statement at the top of a file), then they were...

When Tracing in ASP.NET, the IIS process (on IIs5.1) is locking on the Trace
file, and I can't read the trace file without restarting the IIS:
Even the following does NOT work (how could I fix this??):
System.Diagnostics.Trace.WriteLine(System.DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString()+
"--" + dirException.ToString());
System.Diagnostics.Trace.Flush();
((System.Diagnostics.TraceListener)
System.Diagnostics.Trace.Listeners).Close();

I have 5 years of MS Access/VBA development experience and am moving
into the VB.net world. I am seeking a tutor which could facilitate
this move.
I live in Anderson, IN and am willing to travel to Indianapolis or
within 50 miles of my home. I have some specific questions that I
would like answered/explained to me. I would also like to develop a
mentoring relationship which would allow me to ask questions in the
future as well (for a...

Hi there,
My ASP.NET 2.0 app uses an external assembly that calls methods like
Trace.Write() and Trace.TraceError() of namespace System.Diagnostics.
I need to enable tracing in my web app so that I could see the trace
messages from the component.
Here's what I've added to web.config so far:
<system.web>

I've got a web service running, and i'm trying to build tracing into it that
is outputted to a file. Unfortunately, i can't find a way of enabling TRACE
token, and it just seems to skip over all System.Diagnostics.Trace lines in
the debugger.
I don't want to use the ASP page trace dump, as it will break my SOAP
interface.
This code is called on my application start event:

I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so I am looking for a debug trace
log system. Something tried, tested and efficient.
It should be coded in C++ (or C) and will be used in an embedded
system (which means that it needs to be efficient at run-time (output
will probably be over serial port - it is acceptable for the tarcer to
buffer output and for a low priority task to output it when teh system
is relatively idle))), although it need not...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
