If you are using Windows, try PlaySound().

I am writing a Python script that uses the win32all winsound package to play a .wav file. I the sound come out of the left hand speaker, but not the right hand speaker. I've look at some Python sound libraries (PySonic, Audiere, pygame), as well as any number of command line .wav file players. For differing reasons, none of these were suitable. Two possiblities are: (a) Convert the mono .WAV file to a stereo .WAV file that plays out of...

Hi everyone, Let's see, now. This question is about the capabilities of ANSI C++. I want to write and compile code in ANSI C++ that, when compiled, will make the computer speaker beep; or, at least, SHOULD make the computer speaker beep. I know that whether the computer speaker actually beeps or not is largely dependent on the OS I'm using. But I'm not so much concerned about that (at this stage). I just want to know if ANSI C++...

Is there any C library out there dealing with the PC speaker? I have always wanted to play around with it and make it do noises! What did all those old games use? They had advanced sound effects using this primitive sound output. Surely not all of them hacked around with Assembler? Or did they? I have tried asking people and searching for such a library/document for a long time without any luck whatsoever.

Got a note about a new page on the Python Wiki: http://wiki.python.org/moin/Selcuk_Altun I suspect it's junk since it doesn't seem to mention Python and the website it mentions doesn't seem to exist. Still, just in case... Thx,

Can javascript (easily) produce a click from the PC-speaker? This is the speaker that is (well, used to be) directly on the CPU-card and was -I believe- intended to give feedback to the typist, making a click-sound on each keypress. On Unix/Linux/MacOSX systems, you can hear this click by typing ^g (control g) into a shell/terminal. This is also the click made by ^g when it is typed in Emacs, or when Emacs signals an error.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
