OK...I'm in the process of learning C++. In my old (non-portable)
programming days, I made use of binary files a lot...not worrying
about endian issues. I'm starting to understand why C++ makes it
difficult to read/write an integer directly as a bit-stream to a file.
However, I'm at a bit of a loss for how to do the following. So as
not to obfuscate the issue, I won't show what I've been attempting ;-)
What I want to do is the...

I have an odd problem that I'm sure someone here can help me solve. I
am using Python 2.3 on a Linux box to process text files. At one point
in my automated process, I have to zip and ship the files over to a
Windows server running a proprietary package to do some manipulation to
the file. Problem is that I need to know when the process completes
processing the file. Complicating matters is that this package names
the output file using...

I have a .CSV file (comma delimited) that I want to open using OLEDB, but I
get the error "External table is not in the expected format."
If I save the .CSV file to an .XLS file, I can open the connection with no
problem.
What is the correct way to open a .CSV file ?
If I can not open the CSV file, how can I programmatically save the CSV file
to an XLS file ?
Thanks a lot.

hi, im new (as you're going to painfully aware of in a minute) to programming and was wondering if anyone could help with this little problem:
i am trying to read a number of values which are separated by newlines, and then manipulate each number until a number =<0 is observed.
is there a way i can use something like fgets() to read the line, then once the manipulation is over, print the result and for the process to be repeated with the...

Hi there,
I just started programming with PERL and am trying to put together my first little data manipulation program. I am working on a MAC with OSX.
I have a data file with the following header that has been created on a Windows XP machine:
My goal is to get rid of the header and the empty lines to finally have an output file with only the number entries.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
