I have a MDI windows forms application that uses a toolbar on the parent form. I've also setup a context menu on this form to be used as the dropdown menu for one of the toolbar buttons. However, the shortcut keys for the context menu do not seem to work for the menus, only clicking on them. Is it possible to use shortcuts this way, or will shortcuts only work with a MainMenu? Thanks in advance, Ben

Hi, the application I am writing has a MainMenu and a DataGrid (UltraGrid). Now I have to edit the text of each cell in this grid. So far so good. All works fine in editmode but if I press a key which is also a shortcut it doesn´t work and the menuitem-clickevent will be performed.

How can I conditionally deploy shortcuts to my application? I have created a custom installer dialog box to give my users the option of creating desktop/start menu shortcuts, but the shortcuts do not have a Condition property that allows conditional deployment. I have tried using the Condition property of the folder where the shortcuts are being installed to, but the shortcuts get installed whether the options are selected or not. I have...

With ToolStripMenuItem objects i created a 'Tools' menu and from that menu droped an Item to which i assigned a ShortcutKey of 'Keys.Control | Keys.E', and the shortcut doesn't work. This ToolStripMenuItem is inside a Form, i tryed with different shortcuts and some work, some don't. For instance, 'Keys.Control | Keys.R' doesn't work either. Is anyone familiar with this problem? MenuStrip msMenu = new MenuStrip(); msMenu.Parent = this;

Are there any keyboard shortcuts that you routinely disable in you apps, to avoid users getting wierd results or problems? If so, what are they? And what technique do you use to disable them? I have disabled the mouse wheel in some of my apps. But generally that is all I have done. But I have one client who seems to have "creative" users. Bob

How can I duplicate the behavior of the operating system shortcut keys in my application? For example, my windows form has 5 controls (textboxes), the operating system will pickup which control has the focus and handle ctrl-c, ctrl-v, or any other shortcuts. I have the same shortcuts working in my app, but have not determined how to find out which control has focus. Would I set up a loop or code for each control at form level. Any help...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
