Hello, First, I want to apologize for posting this message to multiple groups. (1) I have a hard time finding any info and (2) this is not a school assignment. I am trying to create in my Oracle test database a "time" table that would have time buckets. What I mean is that, it would have some structure like this

I have a form field which displays a time in the format 5:30 PM - this time is selected from a previous page. I need to add a function to increment or deincrement the time by clicking up/down buttons - sort of like the clock in Windows. How can this be done in javascript? Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I need to update client machines with the correct time if it is inaccurate. The server I'm using will always have the correct time so I'll be using that as the source of correct time. The code below works most of the time but is an an hour off sometimes (daylightsavings time). For example, If I change the date on a local to machine to Jan 2005, my code will update the time an hour ahead of where it should be. Any

Hello all, I am waiting for receipt of files in a directory. I use the FileSystemWatcher to detect when files arrive in said folder. I need to read the data from these files ASAP but the files are created and detected before writing completes and so I cannot read them until the file handle used in their creation has been released. This would be easy to get around with file renaming or other file locking mechanisms which I could use...

Hello everyone, I am an old C++/COM programmer that converted about 8 months ago to C#/.Net, and I have no regrets. I am now converting our caching subsystem from COM to .Net and I have a little problem to resolve. Our old COM cache would cleanup "unreferenced" entities by checking the refcount on the entities in the cache. Whenever the refcount was equal to 2 (this means the cache had a reference and the cleanup had another) then we...

If I want to check to see if it's after "11:36 pm" what would I write? I'm sure it's easy but I'm getting tired of having to work with dates and times. Sometimes I just want time or date. And to be able to do comparisons on them.

Hi all. There is a challenge question I encountered recently, which says: "In plain English, there are six different ways when you want to tell someone else about the current time: It is five past seven. It is eleven to ten. It is half past nine. It is a quarter past eight. It is a quarter to ten.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
