I am using the std::setprecision function to format variables of type double in a string however I am unsure how to stop this appearing in scientific notation. For example std::stringstream buffer; buffer << setprecision(1) << 40.0 << "° C";

Well, the project I am working on has now come to a screeching halt! I have been developing a program that heavily utilizes ADO.NET record sets. To generate reports, I convert the recordset to XML, and then apply an XSLT to transform the XML into HTML. This works great (or did) until today. I just found out that the "number-format" command in XSLT can't handle scientific notation! So when I try to format these numbers I just get "NaN" on...

Hi all, Math is not my strongest area so forgive me if I use some of the wrong terminology. It seems that scientific notation is immune to rounding errors. For example: (4.98 * 100) + 5.51 // returns 503.51000000000005, rounding error! 4.98e2 + 5.51 // returns 503.51, correct!

When I format a number to a string in scientific notation: string.Format("{0:E}",20000); I get the following string (culture de-DE): 2,000000E+003 How can I format scientific notation in a way that no leading 00 are inserted for the exponent, so the above would look like this:

I am reading TC++PL3, and on page 468, at "21.4.3 Floating-Point Output", it formats floating point output in the style: cout.setf(ios_base::scientific, ios_base::floatfield); // use scientific // format cout<< "scientific:\t"<< 1234.56789<< '\n';

Hello, By default, the "g" format specifier seems to use 2 digits in the exponent if it decides to use the scientific format. I.e., Double.ToString("g"). How do I control the number of exponent digits used without affecting the operation of "g" in any other way? I need it to use 3 digits instead. Thanks, Ray

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
