Hello everybody,
I'm the administrator of our network and we have a problem with our Windows
server 2003 standard.
Recently I've installed the server on our network and promoted it to domain
controller.
Everything works fine. Our R&D department is developing a program that's
created with c-sharp
and runs in .NET (I hope my explanation is correct, because I'm not
familiair with programming!)

If the C programs have UNIX system calls such as fork(), alarm(),
etc.., we should call it UNIX programs, not traditional C programs?
We couldn't compile the programs with system calls using VC++ compiler.
I need to compile it under UNIX platform. correct? any other
alternatives??
Please advise. Thanks!!

I have a fairly large Access application that ran correctly in Access
2000. After upgrading to Access 2003 (and recompiling and updating
references), it reliably crashes at a certain point. If I step
through the VBA code, the crash does not occur.
What is different about stepping through code instead of just running
it?
Any idea how to find the cause? I know about where it happens, but
since it is Access itself crashing, finding a...

Hi,
I have a very simple library that wraps a Timer class and a test
program linked to it.
First of all, I compile the library and the main without the KPIC flag.
Then, I execute the program and, while it's running, I add some dummy
sentence to the library and recompile it. Nothing happens to the binary
running. It keep unaware of changes in the library and keeps running.

Very often my VS2005 pro crashes after a debug.
I run ASP.NET debug, and all works well. Then I stop it, and all it's also
ok. Then, when I try to edit some code, it crashes and I need to kill it,
restart, reload project, etc.
it seems that the problem is with vb compiler integration, but I'm not sure.
Is this a known problem? Is there some solution? I cannot spend all my time
to reload VS and projects!

I have to develop several large and complex C++ hardware test programs that
should work under DOS, most likely with 32-bit DOS extender. Development
workstation OS would be Microsoft XP. Quite some time ago I worked in DOS,
with Borland BC++ 4.1. I do not have it any more. Which compiler would you
recommend me now? Which ones support serious DOS program development?
Criterion should be number of available free library modules (graphic menu...

So I have a python program that runs a bunch of other programs....it
then loops forever, occasionally executing other programs.
To run each of these programs my python code executes:
subprocess.Popen(command_line, shell=True, stdout=fd,
stderr=subprocess.STDOUT)
where command_line is an appropriate command line. :)
Now my problem is when I abort this program it kills off all the child

Hi
I recompiled previous VC6.0 C++ MFC project with VS2008 Evaluation
It could run release at the system with the VS2008 installed. But it gives
"Application has failed to start because the application configuration is
incorrect..." Error when i try to run at target systems.
I have already installed the Dot Net 3.5 at the target System.
Even if i create a MFC C++ solution from VS2008 it gives the same error.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
