Memory leaks reported creating simple array of class

Hi,
I came across code which stores class pointers in an array.

I have simplified it below. When I run the code I get a memory leak reported
in VC6.

Any idea why and is it something to worry about or just an artifact of the
debugger?

class CTest
{
};

void main(void)
{

CTest *TData = new CTest[4];
_CrtDumpMemoryL eaks();

}

Forget that simplification

CTest *TData = new CTest[4];
delete []TData;
_CrtDumpMemoryL eaks();

gives no memory leak of course.

I'll have a further look at the original sample (it gives the leak even
after the delete).

Whoops silly me. _CrtDumpMemoryL eaks(); was being called before the delete.

Hi all: When I run my code, I find that the memory that the code uses keeps increasing. I have a PC with 2G RAM running Debian linux. The code consumes 1.5G memory by the time it finishes execution. But I do not think it needs so much memory. About 500M memory should be enough. I have following questions about memory leak. (1).If in my code I only define constructor for my class, and do not define destructor, will it cause memory leak?

Hi, I have this following simple c++ program, it will produce memory leak ( see what I did below ). My observation also showed that: There will be a mem leak when all the 3 conditions are true: 1. CallControlData does not provide a operator= 2. INUserHandle's operator= returns a object instead of a reference 3. Use CC -g main_leak.C instead of CC main_leak.C to compile. You change any of the above condition, there will be NO mem leak.

Ok, now I'm officially confused. I have a large project going, which uses a win32 ui library I am developing myself. And I'm getting weird memory leaks. I don't know if I can explain what is going on, but I really need some help on this one. Ok, so I have this class defined (written by Randy Charles Morin, www.kbcafe.com) which detects memory leaks. It creates a memory check point in the constructor, and another in the destructor, and...

Does anyone know if Microsoft generated a whitepaper on this topic? Does anyone know what the solution is? (meaning, eliminate the leak problem -- I am seeing three memory leaks from dllmodul.cpp(102) similar to what is mentioned below)... I am calling MFC as part of unmanaged code used by the managed code. +--------

Has anyone noticed memory leaks in their VB.NET Windows Forms apps? My app definitely has some memory leaks, so I did a simple test to see if it was my app or something about VB.NET. I created a test app with 2 forms. Form1 has a command button with the following code: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim x As New Form2 x.Show()

I've detected memory leaks in our huge .NET 1.1 C# application but couldn't localize them directly. So I've reduced the code to the following console application: using System; using System.IO; namespace MemLeak { class MemLeak

Jack Slocum claims here http://www.jackslocum.com/yui/2006/10/02/3-easy-steps-to-avoid-javascript- memory-leaks/ that "almost every site you visit that uses JavaScript is leaking memory". Anybody know anything about this? Does *Javascript* leak memeory, or does the *browser* leak memory?

I may have painted myself into a corner with GenerateInMemory=true. My app need a custom user step. Users want to code (sort of - they are not programmers) some refinements to a search procedure. They can concoct a moderately complex boolean expression, and that suffices. I will take their statements, add top and bottom text, and now I can do a CodeDom compile. I generate an assembly via CodeDom with GenerateInMemory. I make a...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
