while you are reading your C++ do the examples. When you've finished
write more
code.

Take some classes. Talk to people who are good C++ programmers and
learn from them. Read the newsgroups. ze*******@gmail .com wrote: What must i do, Now?

First: Become a *programmer*, not a C++ programmer. Learn to be able
to solve a problem with any language. You might focus on C++ and learn
all the little intracacies of that language but in general it is better
to just know how to solve problems with a computer mindset and be able
to use reference manuals efficiently. I can write code in any language
given an introduction to the syntax (since many are so alike sometimes
I don't even need that) and a reference manual on the language and base
API's.
The best way to become a programmer is to start programming. Pretty
soon you will either find you are good at it or you will have given up.

Good advice, but first, I would recommend reading this: http://www.developer.com/tech/article.php/3304881
Go through the entire series of articles, before attempting to learn any
modern language based around object-oriented programming (OOP), including
C++.
In my opinion, that series of articles is the most readable and
understandable OOP explanation I've seen, period.

Amen to that. I just came back from two very large book stores. There
are countless books of the "I'm an Idiot, Teach Me Something"
catagory. Including C++.
Funny how in today's crude & lude society people even pay book authors
to insult them for buying their product.
Personally I've never bought one of those myself. O'Rielly all the
way, baby.

I've been programming in Python for about 2 years. I think it offers
the best combination of simplicity and power of any language I have
explored. As I write more and larger and complex programs, I need to
code better. By better I mean clearer, cleaner, more efficient and
maintainable. As the subject states, I want to become a really good
Python programmer. I learn most everything from random examples and
experience and that's good,...

Hi,
As I been programming in C I have discovered more and more tools that
really helps to speed up the development process when writing
programs. Examples of such tools are cscope, cbrowser, tags, etc.
There are ofcourse many different levels of programmers, and the
beginners might only use emacs or vi to write their code. However,
since there are such great tools out there to help the programmer, I
am wondering which tools are...

This is now such a nasty place to visit so I'm quitting coming here.
Newbies are regularly attacked in a vicious way about top-posting -
which is a completely normal thing to do outside of this little
newsgroup micro-world. The equally severe beatings people are given
for not trimming quotes in the right way is also unfair. Shouting at
people to read the rules doesn't hold up as an argument. When you add
a newsserver and search for...

I was looking over someone's C++ code today and despite
having written perfectly readable C++ code myself,
the stuff I was looking at was worse than legalese.
The people who are guiding the development of C++
have really made a mess of things, I mean templates
and competing libraries and all that just render the
code impossible to comprehend. Sure there is
going to be a certain amount of complexity,
that's a given, but if code is not...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
