Hello,
I would like to prevent my perl program to be executed several times
simultaneously (if the program is already running, I would like to display a
message like "another instance of this program is already running, please
try again in a couple of minutes).
For doing this, I guess I have to check the running processes... but I don't
know how to do that and how I can identify my program in the running
processes.

when using one form - i can set the z-order. Is there a way programatically
to create a "z-order" across .exe.
I have 2 .exe - one that paints a background form and then another that
fills in the middle of the screen on top of that form. The .exes need to be
separate, although the middle .exe knows about the size of the outer
background/border form via a remoted object and events that get triggered on
resize.
Everything is working...

Hi everyone,
My performance on a big mission critical system has recently collapsed,
and I've finally traced it down to the postgresql optimiser I think.
I'm running postgresql-7.2.1-2PGDG
The explains below make it clear I think. If I just change the table
declaration order, I get MASSIVELY better performance. I thought the
postgres optimiser was meant to make these desicions for me?

I want to bring up the "New Virtual Directory Properties dialog" from within
the IIS Virtual Directory Management for SQLXML 3.0 snap-in. To do this I'm
suppoded to expand the <COMPUTER NAME> node in the tree view to display the
"Default Web Site" item (according to the text of Roger Jenning's "Using
Microsoft Office Access 2003" p.1363). I currently have no nodes to expand. I
don't have IIS 5.1+ installed on my computer - could this be why...

We have an app which must be single instance. When we start the app we
check if it is already running (using the Process object in the
System.Diagnostics namespace) locating it by the name of the process.
It is not the problem. When it is already running we have to maximize
the already started application and bring it on top of other windows.
When we find our process we get the main window handle from the Process
object:

What would be a good way to check programmatically whether a service was
running?
We have a service that dies periodically and I need to check to see if this
service is running. I know how to check to see if the status is in stopped
or running mode. But that doesn't tell me if it is actually running.
I need to know this so that if it happens I can programmatically start the
same service on another machine.

Hello All,
Just wanted to know if c# has a class which can handle communication
between neighbour computers in same network so if i run a program on
one computer it will be able to bring up processes and have all other
properties of controling the state of that process through a service
which is already running on windows... that is, without opening
sockets ???
