Hi,
I have a program that runs on multiple client pc's. Occasionally one or more
of those pc's use VPN to connect to another corporate network. When using
VPN they need to set proxy server in Internet Explorer connection settings
(proxy:8080). However, as soon as this setting is enabled, the remoting
program running on their pc stops communicating with the server it sends
data to. I've disabled proxy setting on the affected pc, rebooted...

WE have a C# .NET app which runs as a service.
It posts data to a server using HttpWebrequest.
According to the docs I 've read, it should use the proxy settings from IE
on the server machine. But it doesn't, it always posts straight to the
server.
I tried forcing it by doing this:
WebProxy defaultProxy = WebProxy.GetDefaultProxy();
webRequest.Proxy = defaultProxy;

I've been researching this on and off for weeks, and haven't come up with
anything useful yet. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know.
From a Java applet running in IE 6.0 using the Sun J2SE 1.4.2_03 plug-in, I
need to retrieve the proxy host and port that will be used to access a
specific URL. The site with the client machines is using automated proxy
settings (i.e., a ".pac" file) to retrieve the proxy server address and...

I'm writing a windows forms application which accesses the internet at
various points in two different ways:
- calling a webservice (.wsdl),
- using the WebRequest & WebResponse methods.
I have a user that runs the software behind a firewall. He's getting proxy
errors thrown, quite understandably since I simply assume an internet
connection is available.
So, how can I :

I have posted this in microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet.webservices
without any response. My problem is with connections from client computers
with a dynamic proxy settings in IE to my WebServices. Any hint would be
appreciated .
My customer uses automatic proxy settings, from a configuration script, as
defined in Internet Explorer / Internet options / LAN settings. My program,
in C++, can not connect to the web services server...

I have a WiFi network comprising a Netgear router, a desktop and a
laptop. An ASP web service is set up on the desktop IIS. But when I try
to add a web reference to an ASP web application developed on the
laptop to access the desktop web service, I get an error message : "The
proxy settings on this computer are not configured correctly for Web
discovery".
The desktop and laptop both have the Windows XP firewall enabled. The
internet...

Hi,
I've a activex browser control in a form. I've added proxy server
support to the control by modifying the proxy server settings in the
registry. This works fine before the browser control is created (the
browser control is only created after a button on the form is pressed).
However, once the initial proxy settings are commited and the browser
control is created, the browser control does not respond to any new
settings even though...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
