Applying new proxy settings to a browser control

I've a activex browser control in a form. I've added proxy server
support to the control by modifying the proxy server settings in the
registry. This works fine before the browser control is created (the
browser control is only created after a button on the form is pressed).
However, once the initial proxy settings are commited and the browser
control is created, the browser control does not respond to any new
settings even though the registry shows the correct new settings. The
browser control seems to be "stuck" on the old settings. How does IE
apply any new settings?

Any suggestions?

I'm trying to create a proxy server - one that will modify requests made through it. I've started with Tiny HTTP Proxy by SUZUKI Hisao which is built on BaseHTTPServer - and I'm starting to get somewhere. It listens on local ports and tells you whats goign through it. I'm in a slightly unusual situation though - all internet traffic goes through a proxy - I have to set the proxy settings to dav-serv:8080 to work.

**** Post for FREE via your newsreader at post.usenet.com **** When using urllib2.urlopen() on my Windows 2000 machine at work, I was puzzled that I kept getting back authentication errors from our Internet proxy server (I was trying to contact an internal machine). Upon digging into the code a little, I found that urllib2 was pulling the proxy information out of the Windows registry (Internet Explorer uses these settings). However,...

I created some web pages in Visual Studio 2003 in VB and sent them to another fellow to be rolled up into an application. This was sent back to me and I could not open the whole application. I've been researching this on and off for weeks, and haven't come up with anything useful yet. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know. From a Java applet running in IE 6.0 using the Sun J2SE 1.4.2_03 plug-in, I need to retrieve the proxy host and port that will be used to access a specific URL. The site with the client machines is using automated proxy settings (i.e., a ".pac" file) to retrieve the proxy server address and...

Hi, I am learning to code a WinForm application which will need to access a Web Service outside the University network. Our University require us to go through a proxy in order to access the Internet. In addition, the proxy require us to authenticated before allow us to go through it. I have coded something like below (without changing anything other things): WebProxy proxyObject = new WebProxy("proxy.myUni.edu.au", 8080); //

I am re-sending this in the hope that it might illicit a response. I have a corporate client who forces their workstations to get the proxy server details using an automatic proxy discovery script. Unfortunately, the .NET Framework does not support automatic proxy discovery scripts. See: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;%5BLN%5D;307220 The article above details that the way to workaround this is to edit the...

Our WebDev team seems to have found a problem that exposes a bug in .NET 2.0. This problem can be shown when trying to access a WebService using SSL and through a proxy server after using the HttpWebRequest object. Under normal circumstances I am able to use the webservice without any problems. But after using an HttpWebRequest object to make a call to a website all subsequent attempts to use the WebService will fail with a 401...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
