Do you mean something like:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. public class Parent {
  2.   public Parent(int arg1, int arg2) {...}
  3. }
  4. public class Child : Parent {
  5.   public Child(int arg3, int arg4, string arg5) : base(arg3,arg4) {...}
  6. }

Dear NewsGroupers, I am relatively new to OOP and cannet get my head around this problem. I have two classes. Class Child extends Parent. There is no constructor for the Child class. So when I create a child object the constructor for the parent object is called. That works fine. But now I have the problem that I want to add an already existing Parent object to create a new Child object. How can this be done?

i have a quick question... is there a way to obtain the reference to the object which called the currently executing method? here is the scenario, i have a class and a field which i would like to populate with a reference to the object that constructed this current object. i would attempt to accomplish this by setting the appropriate field from within the constructor... i figured it might be obtainable from the stack trace, but that...

How is it possible to take the value of a variable (in this case, MODE_CREATE, MODE_UPDATE, etc) and use that as an object property name? In the following example I want 'oIcon' object to have the properties: mode1, mode2, and mode3. This seems simple but I can't quite figure it out... Any ideas anyone?

I need (okay, I want) to make a dynamic array of my class 'Directory', within my class Directory (Can you already smell disaster?) Each Directory can have subdirectories so I thought to put these in an array. The application compiles but aborts without giving me any useful information. What I suspect is happening is infinite recursion. Each Directory object creates an array of Subdirectories each of which has an array of...

Hello, I am a newbye, and I'm trying to write a simple application. I have five tables with three columns; all tables are identical; I need to change some data in the first table and let VB updates the same data in all other four tables in the right places. I know it would be possible by using the ForeignKeyConstraint object. I have created the tables using the DataSet Visual Tool and I know it doesn't create any ForeignKeyConstraint obj....

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
