You can't. You have to open the file to search it's contents. That doesn't mean you have to *display* the file. But you'll have to open it *at least in memory* to go through it.

A year or two back I needed a search script to scan thru HTML files on a client site. Usual sorta thing. A quick search turned up a neat script that provided great search results. It was fast, returned the hyperlinked page title, filename, and the body txt (30 preceding and following words) in context with the search word highlighted. Excellent.! See it working at: http://www.ipt.co.za Just search for "firearm"

Hi, I want to retrieve the selected folder and entered file name from the SaveFilsDialog. The user is able to create or selected a different folder during the dialog displayed. If user enters "a/b/c/d" in the "File name:" box, then the SaveFileDialog.FileName will return "Path\a\b\c\d" as the name. Is there any way to just retrieve the selected folder and entered file name form the SaveFiledialog?

Hello group. I've migrated from Win 2003 server to Win 2008 server. I've been banging my head agaist a wall for several days now trying to figure this out. I have the following script that will search the file system and return file names of all files within a folder and subfolders that meet the search criteria of DateLastModified. To test the output, you can use the following link:

Hello, Just for anyone information, there is a similar title "Search in Listbox" but it is via Combo Box. In case, anyone need it, I put a link to here. Please let me know if I break any rules by posting a link so then, I will remove it. Okay, here is my question. If you ever refer to the link, I am almost doing the same thing. Just that, I am doing a textbox and a combo box to search the listed data in the listbox. The listbox...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
