Windows Live Messenger add-in fails to read XML on some computers

I am writing a Windows Live Messenger add-in that reads the content of a XML
file.
However, it does not work(cannot read it) for some computers(I have not
summed up the rule). Do you know what can cause this issue?

It works on both XP & Vista and Messenger version 8.1 & 8.5, so I do not
think it is the matter of OS & Messenger.

Any idea would be appreciated.

There is far too little information in your post for anyone to provide a
suggestion. What does "it does not work" mean? Does it fail to open the
file? Does it fail to read the file? Does it fail to correctly interpret
the file? And regardless of the answers to those questions, what is the
exact nature of the failure? Bad output? An exception? Something else?
In each of those cases, the exact output, exception type and message, etc.
needs to be described in your question. Finally, without a
concise-but-complete code sameple that reliably demonstrates the problem,
even having the answers to the previous questions would be of limited
value. It's possible someone could answer the question without a code
sample, but just as likely not.

Hi,

Please supply a code sample.
If I correctly understand that it gives an exception, please also try
to step through through your code (set a breakpoint somewhere and then
press F11 to go forward). Find when the exception occurs, and indicate
that and the exception details (message, stacktrace, whatever else you
see fit.)
If it does not give you an exception, just simply doesn't return the
current output, step through your code as described earlier in this
post and find what happens to give a bad output.
Posting a code sample will help a lot!

Is it possible to interoperate with Windows Messenger using .NET? For example to create and register event handlers to various windows messenger events like someone of your contacts to come online. If yes please mention the relevant namespaces and/or classes.

Is there a way I can display my online status for MSN or Windows messenger the way I can for Yahoo, AOL and ICQ? This should be such a difficult or odd request but I can't seem to find an example anywhere. I would like a button to display my status (online or offline) and give the user the ability to IM me if they have messenger installed.

So I accidently removed something that said windows. I don't know if it was vital or not but it said just "Windows Installer." I don't know what it is, but it's gone. I did this because my computer (a Compaq Windows XP) only had the old version of Windows Messenger and I wanted Windows Live Messenger which wouldn't install and still won't. Another problem I'm having is downloading Internet Explorer 7. Please help me.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
