Serialize array to XML

All,

I'm getting a 'There was an error generating the XML document' when
using the following code:
//list is ArrayList with 20 UsageLogEntry objects - each consisting of
50 string properties

object[] log = (object[])list.ToArray(t ypeof(UsageLogE ntry));

//Web service proxy

Placement.Servi ce dlog = new LogParser.Place ment.Service();

//Web method call - four params are: string, string, string, object[]

dlog.SendDailyU sageLog("AMS", "TFTP00479" , "2", log);
Not sure why.

Thanks in advance

Some have suggested that using serialize() and unserialize is faster than reading/writing an array to disk as a simple text file using $array = file('numbers.txt'); Can anyone justify this? It seems to me that there is some overhead associated with calling unserialize().

I have a class that I want to serialize to an XML string. I want the XML to serialize to utf-8 encoding. When I serialize to an XML file, the data looks great. When I try to serialize to a String (ala StringBuilder) I get utf-16 and instead of the parenthesis (") I get a slash and then a " (\") which makes sense when looking at a character in memory, but not in a string Here is my code XmlSerializer serializer = new XmlSerializer...

Hello, I have an array "aPeople" with people objects which I serialize like this: XmlSerializer x = new XmlSerializer( typeof(People) ); TextWriter writer = new StreamWriter( "data.xml" ); x.Serialize( writer, aPeople ); Now I have also an array "aAnimal" with animal objects. Is there a way to put this in the same data.xml file?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
