Programatically summing all the processes on the host machine.

Bob
Greetings,

IF one wanted to get the memory utilization just like the windows task manager
does .. what do you need to sum? .. if I add together all the processes I'm
still short ..

my snippet

private Int64 total_mem_usage ()
{
Int64 memUsed = 0;

System.Diagnost ics.Process[] PrsArr = System.Diagnost ics.Process.Get Processes();
foreach (System.Diagnos tics.Process p in PrsArr)
{
memUsed += p.WorkingSet64;
}

return memUsed;
}

WMI might work:

WMI and .NET 2.0. The information returned is the same as listed in Task

Hi, I am working on an application which involves interprocess communication. More to the point, processes should be able to notify other processes about certain situations, so the "notifyees" would be able to act in certain ways. As processes are distributed on several machines, in different physical locations, my thinking was:

Hi, I'm using the PerformanceCounter .NET class to obtain the "% Processor Time" for processes that are running on a remote host. These processes are obtained using the System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses(host) method. I'm noticing that for some running processes, the program is throwing out an exception "Cannot read instance :<processname>". Is this a known issue or could it be solved? For e.g. on getting "% Processor Time"...

Hello All, In IIS 6.0 We have a concept of worker processes and application pools. As I understand it, we can have multiple worker process per appliction pool. Each worker process is dedicated to a pool. If I assign only one application to a applicaton pool and have multiple worker processes assigned to that pool. Will my application be processed by many worker processes?

Greetings, We make an ASP.NET web application and we host it for our customers. We have provisioned hardware and hope to be able to service around 200 customers on this hardware. The web servers are in a stateless farm and have 2 GB of RAM. We are using ASP.NET 1.1 when using a dedicated application pool for each virtual directory. Each customer gets their own virtual directory and copy of the ASP.NET dll in their bin folder, which...

Hi, I am pretty new to the postgresql community. My question may seem a little bit strange but I'd like to know if it is possible to run 2 postgresql processes with 2 separate databases on the same machine (change of the ports, different paths to logs, ...)? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi, I have a question about encrypting connection strings in an asp.net 2.0 app in a shared hosting environment. From what I have read, I believe I need to programatically encrypt and decrypt the conn string because I do not have access to run aspnet_regiis on the remote machine. My question is where to do I put the code? Do I first encrypt the connection string on page_load, and then every time I need to access the database decrypt...

I understand that Python has them, but PHP doesn't. I think that is because mod_php is built into apache, but mod_python is not usually in apache. If mod_python was built into apache, would python still have long running processes (LRP)? Do LRPs have to do with a Python interpreter running all the time? Or is it something else? I also understand that LRPs are the reason that shared hosting is less

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
