cannot read performance counter instances of running processes on remote hosts

I'm using the PerformanceCoun ter .NET class to obtain the "%
Processor Time" for processes that are running on a remote host. These
processes are obtained using the
System.Diagnost ics.Process.Get Processes(host) method. I'm noticing that for
some running processes, the program is throwing out an exception "Cannot
read instance :<processname>" . Is this a known issue or could it be solved?

For e.g. on getting "% Processor Time" values from a remote WinServer2003
host, the following processes could not be read:
dfssvc, msiexec,wmiapsr v,taskmgr.... plus others.

Thanks in advance,

Hi, I am trying to understand the performance implications of running a number of separate ActiveXexe processes as opposed to a single ActiveXexe with multiple threads on a Windows 2000 server. I have been told that Windows does not allocate a fixed memory space to its processes, so they are always paged off to disk when inactive. However, all the threads in a single process operate within the same memory space, so are relatively...

I have some programs running on Red Hat Linux 7.3 working with IBM DB2 V6.1 (with all the FixPacks) on my old machine. I have just installed IBM DB2 V8.1 on this (new) machine running Red Hat Enterplise Linux 3 ES, and applied FixPack fp5_mi00069.tar to it. After creating an instance, starting the database, creating a database, and entering the table definitions, all of which seems to work OK, I entered a tiny 8-row table and can do...

Hi all, We've just migrated to IIS 6.0 / Windows Server 2003. We are now experiencing some stability problem what we did not experience in IIS 5.0 / Windows 2000 Server. Our ASP.NET application is running in a web-farm environment of multiple web servers. We have been using "Performance Monitor" to monitor the "Requests in Application Queue" counter of "ASP.NET Apps v.1.1.4322" object. We have found the following pattern.

Hi Has anybody had any experience of ASP.Net performance counters not updating. In the performance monitor application when I try to add the groups ASP.NET and ASP.NET Applications the counters all show 0. In addition, ASP.NET Applications does not show any of the ASP.NET instances that are running on the computer. The other counters for example % processor time work fine. The problem machine is a test server running Win2003. ...

Hi all I have an application which brings back 1000 records from a sql server database. Under the local asp.net development server provided with Visual Studio 2008, it takes about 1.8 seconds When I place this application in IIS it takes 16 seconds for the exact bit of code. I have narrowed the code down to loopoing around the dataset and creating an object for every row in the dataset. My question is why does it take so long under...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
