NNTP Post reply

Hi,

Basically I've written a NNTP-client which is able to post new messages,
but inable to post replies to messages.

I've tried posting a reference string into the header of the new article
containing only the message-Id I reply to : results in a new post

I've tried posting a (concat) reference string into the header of the new
article containing all message-id's (message-tree) of the message I reply
to : results in a new post

It comes down to: (request to server transcript)

From: me@myemail.com
Newsgroups: microsoft.publi c.dotnet.langua ges.csharp
Reference: <messageid1<mes sageid2>
Subject: Re: MessageSubject I reply to

..

And I'm at a loss atm, what am I doing wrong here, or am I barking up the
wrong tree (in this case: reference)?

TIA,
Leon

You might want to review
http://www.mibsoftware.com/userkt/rfc1036/0052.htm. The basic problem
could be that the header is References, not Reference.

Is it possible to send/receive nntp messages via CDOSYS without a 3rd party news component? The NNTP links I have found appear to be related to MS Exchange 2K. My goal is to write an ASP interface as a customized news reader. Roland

Does this exist in the.net framework ? I can't find it. I could find SMTP, though. If it doesn't, could anybody recommend a component suite that includes smtp, pop, nntp ? But mainly, that does include nntp. Thanks,

Hello Does anyone know of a (good) asp script to browse/post nntp (usenet/newsgroups)? I know there are some ASP .Net ones, but I rather have this on ASP for now since I'm still working on migrating my site later. TIA

For the past few days, I've been getting really poor performance with these newgroups (use Outlook Express 6 as my NNTP reader), and sometimes it will completely fail download a message, and I have to go to the Web interface to read it. Is there some kind of problem with the NNTP server, or am I just lucky?

Have you seen any NNTP classes that I may use or build upon to build a simple newsreader/downloader? Is there such a class in the .Net framework that I have overlooked? If not, inclusion of RFC documented protocols would certainly be a good idea for a class hierarchy in the .Net classes. You could adopt and extend the classes at will. Who knows......maybe even improve one and get a new RFC implemented.

Ok, I do NOT want to *connect* to a NNTP server from PHP, I want to - from a NNTP client - connect to a NNTP server that is powered by PHP. Specifically, I want articles, forum posts and such from my web site to be readable via a NNTP interface. So, when the client connects to my server, a hierarchy might look like this: sandman.forum.gaming sandman.forum.media sandman.articles.weblogs

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
