Problems with the NNTP server?

For the past few days, I've been getting really poor performance with these
newgroups (use Outlook Express 6 as my NNTP reader), and sometimes it will
completely fail download a message, and I have to go to the Web interface to
read it. Is there some kind of problem with the NNTP server, or am I just
lucky?

Me too on multiple machines. I'm guessing it has something to do with the
barrage of virus posts. it seems to have gotten better today.

As William surmised, it has indeed been because of Spam for about the last week and a half it has been really high due to the virus. Hopefully performance will improve as the
messages containing the virus are neutralized.. (It does seem a little faster today than yesterday)

Well, that would explain it. It does seem to be better today. I wasn't
sure whether there was a problem with the server, with our firewall/internet
connection, or with my machine.

Thanks for the feedback!

When I try to create a new C# Web Reference in Visual Studio 2003, I get an error message "The proxy settings on this computer are not configured correctly for web discovery. ..." This web reference is to a service on my machine - http://localhost/... - so I don't know why any proxy configuration should be necessary. Doing the same thing in Visual Studio 2002 works fine (i.e., no error about "proxy settings"). However, when I update...

I have a custom control that builds what we refer to as "Formlets" around some content in a page. These are basically content "wrapper" sections that are tables that have a colored header and provide an open TD with a DIV in it for the content of this formlet. (The DIV is for DHTML to hide and show the content) I've created a web page showing step by step the two problems I'm encountering. This problem is much easier to see than it...

This IDE is driving me nuts. I needed another button so I copied an existing one, changed the Text and the id and position by drag and drop. Well then I run and get the following: Control 'Button19' of type 'Button' must be placed inside a form tag with runat=server Can the IDE not do what it is supposed to do. It seems that it is a fight to make it do anything or did I do something wrong? It would seem silly to have to create a...

I've written a custom MembershipProvider and a custom RoleProvider, and am trying to get them to work with the ASP.NET Configuration tool. Ok, I do NOT want to *connect* to a NNTP server from PHP, I want to - from a NNTP client - connect to a NNTP server that is powered by PHP. Specifically, I want articles, forum posts and such from my web site to be readable via a NNTP interface. So, when the client connects to my server, a hierarchy might look like this: sandman.forum.gaming sandman.forum.media sandman.articles.weblogs

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
