Was wondering if anyone knew of any references for solving particular database problems with Access. For example, how to create databases with transaction tables (I know they're not built in to Access, so I want to know how to construct something similar myself), general ideas on keeping track of financial information (e.g. simple nominal ledgers), how to simply append data to both sides of a one-many pair from a similar one-many linked...

Hi, I've made a program from numerical recipes. Looks like I'm not allowed to distribute the source code from numerical recipes but it shouldn't even be necessary to do that. My problem is that I'm not very experienced with pointers, pointers to pointers and the like and I got 4 compiler warnings + I don't completely understand how to build this "compact matrix" (see later).

Hello, I have been a software developer for the past 10 years now. I get job descriptions that requires problem-solving skills as one of the most desirable skills in a candidate. But there are not many resources that is devoted to this topic. So, I have created a website for problem solving skills, please check it out at http://www.ProblemSolvingSkill.net.

Hi, I am doing some mathematical analysis on large numbers in C. The same code runs perfectly in Windows but produces unpredictable results in Unix (like negative numbers or very very big numbers). I am using 'long' data type which is sufficient to hold the largest data in the program. I checked the 'sizeof(long)' in both the OS which is same (=4).

Hi everyone, I am working on a project where I have .wmv files stored outside of the server's www root, and want to serve them via a custom web interface. It's all on windows, and is only intended to work locally on the physical machine it runs on (don't ask, the customer is king...). Right now I have a working prototype in which I use a PHP script (called movie.php) to serve the target file. In the HTML page, I have

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
