MDI Child Merge MenuStrip

Hello all,

Is there anyway to stop a child form's minimize, maximi ze,close and system
menu from automatically merging with the MDI parent's menustrip when you
click the maximize button on the child?

I'm able to catch the WM_GETMINMAXINF O message in WndProc and I can adjust
the MinTrackSize, MaxTrackSize. I just can't for the life of me stop it from
merging into the parent.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

I would like to have some MenuItems that are specific to my child form appear in the main menu. In the MSDN documentation: Menu merging is typically done to merge the menus of a Multiple Document Interface (MDI) parent form with those of its active MDI child form. This is performed automatically by the .NET Framework common language runtime. For example, if an MDI parent form contains a set of menus for handling files and your MDI child...

Could someone explain how to merge the form menu with the mdi container window. The menu strip items on the form window merge but I either end up with a blank blue menu on the form or top list of items that don't do anything. MDI Container.IsMdiContainer = true MenuStrip.AllowMerge = true /// First menu items this.miFile.MergeAction = System.Windows.Forms.MergeAction.Insert;

Using ToolStripManager.Merge(ToolStrip,ToolStrip) I've been able to merge a MenuStrip into a MenuStrip but never a ContextMenuStrip into a MenuStrip. From the docs it seems to me I should be able to.

I am having a serious issue with my MDI child windows. This is with a large VB.NET application that I ported over to VS 2005 from VS 2003. The problem is that, if the child window is maximized and then closed, it produces the following error message: Cannot access a disposed object Object name:'icon' in source System.Drawing And then the whole system crashes. Again, this ONLY occurs if the MDI child window is maximized within the MDI...

The How to page: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/7aw8zc76(VS.80).aspx walks through the creation of MDI child forms. It includes instructions to set the property MdiList to maintain a list of open MDI child windows. However, I can't find the MdiList property in the properties panel.

I need to call a method on an owned child form, and am wondering if the best way of doing this is to capture the Closing event of the form that passes control back to the form where I have the method. The structure is like so: frmMain (MDI, runs on app start) calls frmB (MDI child), which in turn calls frmC (MDI child), which in turn calls frmD (MDI child). frmMain and frmB remain open while frmC and frmD are shown.

There is a menustrip on the MDI parent window. When i add a menustrip on the MDI child window, the menu options appear on the MDI parent menustript. How can the MDI child window have its own menustrip? Thanks a lot.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
