Thanks for reading this.
I've successfully implemented a WCF solution. However, even though I
designate the return type to be DataTable in my class on the server (hosted
under IIS), it comes back as the following in the generated proxy class:
Public Function SelectCountryBy ID(ByVal guiID As String) As
SelectCountryBy IDResponseSelec tCountryByIDRes ult
Now, it doesn't do this when the type is a simple String, but this long
weird thing is what I get for DataTable.
Thanks for any thoughts,
Ron 3 2551
What does your operation contract definition look like?
In C#:
[OperationContra ct]
DataTable GetMembers( )
{
// body here that returns a DataTable
}

Weird.. if I make the type DataSet it returns as such, but not DataTable. I
wonder why it doesn't like DataTables.

Is your datatable a .NET 2.0 version? Only the 2.0 version is serializable, earlier versions are not. The dataset has been serializable all along.

Hello,
We are using DataTable to store our data that we retrieve
from SQL because it provides us with ROW/COLUMN concept.
Due to DataTable been memory hungary we are finding that
at least 40MB of memory is been created every second which
means the GC is concently running. We want to use
something else that is not memory hungary and will give us
the ROW/COLUMN concept (ie Multi-dimension Arrays).

I have a gridview where the datasource is bound after a selection. The
result of doing this is that sorting and paging do not work. I was given a
sample of how to resolve this, however my attempt to explicity enable
sorting failes because, unlike the sample, my sort event has a null in the
datasource and I am unsure why this is so.
Sample HTML code is:
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False"...

Hi. I'm more-or-less a C newbie. I thought I had pointers under control until
I started goofing around with this:
================================================================================
/* A function that returns a pointer-of-arrays to the calling function. */
#include <stdio.h>
int *pfunc(void);

In creating a C# web service, I am having trouble returning a DataTable
object as the result of a web method. I have no problem returning native
types like string or int, but cannot return a .NET DataTable object. The
problem occurs when I try to compile the client side C# application (it
complains about the DataTable type not being recognized as the return of the
web service method).
Thanks

After reading a tutorial and fiddling, I finally got this to work. I can
now put two tables created with a DataTable class into a DataRelation.
Phew! And it works!
Dim tblSliceInfo As New DataTable("SliceInfo")
Dim tblSliceRatings As New DataTable("SliceRatings")
'.... All the adding datacolumns, datarows, etc. goes here..
DatasetInit.Tables.Add(tblSliceInfo)

I'm a bit puzzled by the current recommendation not to send Datasets or
Datatables between application tiers.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306134
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms996381.aspx
Formerly, with classic Microsoft DNA architecture, the ADO Recordset was a
primary transport medium, recommended for transmitting data between
application tiers. In fact, there are whole books written on the subject.

Hello,
I recognized some days ago, that returning a DataTable blocks my
WCF-Service. Is this a known bug?
If I add this table to a new DataSet() and return this, it works.
Thank you,
Frank

I've got a routine that builds a table using different queries, different SQL
Tables, and adding custom fields.
It takes a while to run (20 - 45 seconds) so I wrote a thread to handle the
table population.
Whenever I call the thread, I pass it a structure containing the table and a
few other parameters. The table goes in as a reference, but the other items
are passed normally.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
