Hello,
I could use a little help from you Gurus out there. I have an aplication
that watches a directory and detects when a PGP encrypted file lands in the
directory and starts a process that decrypts it and parses the resulting
contents. I am using the FileSystemWatcher's Created event to detect when
the file arrives. The problem I have is that these files are large(5-10
megs) and they are being transfered over a limited pipe. I...

I'm writing a console utility to download specific files from web sites
based on the command line options. In most cases, I can trap the 404
error when the file isn't available because the operator mistyped the
URL or it's offline for whatever reason. The problem I'm running into
is with certain sites where the admin has set up a redirect to handle
the 404 condition and redirects the request to another page.
In this case, the...

Hi,
I have a problem that I have been working with for a while.
I need to be able from server side (asp.net) to detect that the file i'm
streaming down to the client is saved completely/succsessfully on the
client's computer before updating some metadata on the server (file
downloaded date for instance)
However,
All examples i have tried, and all examples I have found that other people
says works - doesn't work for me :-(

Here is an advanced PHP question. Can anyone think of a way to detect
the number of bytes written to output when a script is aborted?
I am sending a large file to the client, and I want to record how many
bytes are actually sent. I can detect abort of the script using a
shutdown handler. In the shutdown handler, I tried ob_get_length, but
it returns false. I tried to read the server's log file, but it is does
not contain the...

Hello,
In IE I disable "Automatic prompting for file downloads" which causes
the IE information bar to show up when I try to push a file download
from an iframe. I want to keep this behaviour.
When clicking "Download file..." on the information bar, a postback
occurs. I would like to detect this postback. The file that is going to
be downloaded is generated by a rather heavy export, now the export is
running twice. Once before the...

I have a large install file (an exe) on my web server that people
download and install from. Looking at my log files, I see a lot of
people downloading it, but no way to tell for sure if they completed the
download or cancelled out before it completed. Is there any function in
PHP that would allow the web server to send the file and detect a
completion or cancellation? Or perpahs a javascript/PHP method?
Any help would be greatly...

Hi all,
I googled and read this group but could not find any solution to my
problem.
I have a page to download big excel files that we 'build' on the
server side. When a user click on the link to download, he has no clue
that something is going on (and it can take some time). Indeed if the
cursor is over some text or some special parts of the page it will not
be set to the 'progress' type.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
