What events are necessary

I have a datagridview and I'd like to perform the following action.
1. When I change values in a cells in a particular column, a login form
should show.
2. If a successful login is done, then allow a a cell change, otherwise
don't allow cell change.
3. If a change is allowed in the cell, event CellValidating should be
called. If it's not validated place "0.00" in the cell.

What events are necessary to effect this change. I notice that in my current
code after a "0.00" is programmaticall y placed in a cell because of
non-validation, it returns to step 1 above. I want to eliminate this double
call. I know what the error is, but how do I avoid it. I'm willing to use a
CellEnter or CellClick events if tit helps.
