What events are necessary

I have a datagridview and I'd like to perform the following action.
1. When I change values in a cells in a particular column, a login form
should show.
2. If a successful login is done, then allow a a cell change, otherwise
don't allow cell change.
3. If a change is allowed in the cell, event CellValidating should be
called. If it's not validated place "0.00" in the cell.

What events are necessary to effect this change. I notice that in my current
code after a "0.00" is programmaticall y placed in a cell because of
non-validation, it returns to step 1 above. I want to eliminate this double
call. I know what the error is, but how do I avoid it. I'm willing to use a
CellEnter or CellClick events if tit helps.

Dave,

This is a very handy event from the DataGridView, in my idea gives it
endless possibilities.

The question I have is: how safe / future proof / portable is the use of the __subclasses__ method that exists for new-style classes? Background: I thought I had found an easy-to-understand application for metaclasses: making classes instantly aware of their subclasses. The context was that I needed a class hierarchy, and I wanted to be...

Hello, I'm trying to capture all keyboard events from some different web page layouts: framesets with different stuff, like flash or whatever ! The problem I am getting is that only focused documents get those events, and even worse, if an "object" like a swf clip gets the focus, all keyboard events are only sent to that object. What I...

Cancel events tied to fields on the form if I am in edit mode. The reason I want to do this is becasue when entering a new record the form is entered in data entry mode and I have lots of stuff...

Hi, I find that when i define a delegate, it gets derived from MulticastDelegate, which provides all funtionality that events would provide (like registering new handlers etc.). Then, apart from being a bit more neater, could there have been any other reason that an 'event' keyword became necessary in C#? Thanks in advance, --

Hello, I'm studying a book on VB.net Win apps, and I'm reading a section on events and delegates and raising events. Is it just me, or is this not just subs dressed up as something else? I mean, for one, delegates point to subs, so when you call a delegate, why not just call the sub dierectly and not bother adding the extra code...

I'm working with VB.NET events and I want a way to disconnect all the handlers of an event. I want to do this in the object that is the source of the event. This is slightly tricky in VB.Net as the eventing code is slightly hidden. when you use events in Vb.Net you type this: <code> Public event MyEvent() </code>

Hey guys When you hook an event (c# 2.0 syntax): myEvent += MyMethodToFire; You need to also unsubscribe it to avoid a resource leak so that the object it is in gets garbage collected like so : myEvent -= MyMethodToFire; That's all fine, but when you use visual studio to create events for objects it never creates an unsubscribing...

Using vb.net 2008 windows forms. How can a form which has been closed and disposed still attempt to handle a custom event? I have a form which inherits from a base form class. The base class has a shared event which is raised when a property in the base class changes (the property updates a shared variable value).

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
