I've an application in which I use to check out the date/time stamp of a data
base... and if I find that it has been updated, my application runs and does a
particular update.
Currently I fire off my application hourly useing the built in XP Scheduler.
What I am going to do is to have my application check every minute while it is
running as I don't want to have to wait up to a hour for my particular update
to happen....

In C++ we had the ability to create a property page that could be merged
into an existing property sheet to provide customization inputs for users.
Can anyone point me to an example of how to do this in C#? I am creating a
windows service which has dynamic parameters that the user can change.
Instead of creating an administration application I would like to include
the parameters in a property page and have it merged with the default...

i'd like to create an application which would run in the background, &
there'd be an icon in the system tray (can use the notify icon).
But HOW can i make the form invisible.
What i'd like to do is, when the exe is run, ONLY the icon should appear in
the system tray & nothing else.
& if necessary the user can click on the icon & there'd be a menu to load
the necessary forms.
How can i do this.

I have a windows app. written in VB6, now we need to expose some of
its classes through a web service.
I am only able to expose the classes using late binding becasue that's
the way the original VB6 was written. I ahve already exposed some of
the original classes, and they work fine. Now, I added a new ActiveX
component to the windows app (in vb6). I am able to call it by late
binding from within the vb6 app. itself, and from a dummy vbs...

Hi,
I just wrote a test Windows Service that creates a text file on startup
(please see my code below). The file is never created.
Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String)
Dim swLog As StreamWriter = File.CreateText("C:\myLog.txt")
swLog.WriteLine("My Windows Service has just started.")
swLog.Close() : swLog.Flush()
End Sub

LS,
I'm trying to create a windows service that calls a function in a
module. This is the code I use to call the function.
Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String)
' ' Add code here to start your service. This method
should set things
' ' in motion so your service can do its work.

I am able to use the PIL module to capture a screen or specific
window. My problem is when capturing a window (on windows XP) I can
only capture the "visible" portion of the window. Is there any way to
capture the entire window? specifically the scrolled portion of a
window that is not visible on the screen.
Thanks for any help.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
