I'm working with VS.NET 2003 and .NET 1.1 (not SP1) on Windows XP SP1. My
application is using the Windows Installer Bootstrap. (I may have also
installed a module which detects requirements (.NET 1.1 -> MsiNetAssembly
Support.) I have a few issues and questions regarding the MSI and its
properties.
* This may be my biggest annoyance at the moment. When the installer creates
the target directory, it's setting them as read-only. When the...

VS.NET help on deployment indicates that, while using a deployment project
requires administrative access to IIS, " we recommend deploying your project
in most cases, because it allows you to take
advantage of extensive deployment project management features, such as
registration and IIS configuration."
I guess that users of shared web hosts are using copying rather than a
deployment project. What problems might this run into? I.e.,...

I want to deploy a service with a windows app and the setup program
must conform to the Vista certification requirements. Can that be
done with the standard .net setup project? Assuming cost is an
issue,
what else is available?

I have a deployment project that I'm setting up. I need to perform a
different custom action based on whether this is a first time install or an
update. Does anyone have any idea if it's possible to set the Condition
property of a custom action to determine if the currently running install is
upgrading a previous installation and if so how? I'm also open to other
methods of acheiving this functionality.

I've added a web deployment project and want to use the config section
replacement but I'm obviously not understanding something.
I have set up an alternate appSettings file, test.appSettings.config, and
when I build the appSettings are correctly overridden, but I also end up with
a copy of test.appSettings.config in my web site. If I have config sections
for several environments they all get copied.
How do I stop the copy? I wondered...

Have you ever used a .net deployment project to install a windows
service? If so, then i ran into an issue recently that maybe you could
shed some light on. I am sure I probably did something wrong, but I am
experiencing something weird and am not sure if it has something to do
with the way the WindowServiceInstaller class was created or if i did
something wrong in my deployment project.
Basically what happens is that after I build the...

I have created a setup project for my webservice. So far I've been
able to set the name of the virtual directory and a number of other
custom properties but the one thing I can't seem to figure out how to
do is to specify which version of the framework the virtual directory
should run under. My setup works great except for the fact that it
defaults to the 1.1 framework instead of the 2.0 which causes the site
to fail to load. Is there a...

Hi there,
We're using a Web Deployment project to deploy our web app and that works
fine.
However, we've written a little Windows Forms utility for our client that
we'd like deploy with the web app into the ProgramFiles directory of the web
server.
Is this possible using an out-of-the-box web deployment project (i.e.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
