I have an app that is deployed that uses .config file settings. I have an
update of that app that I am installing using a setup and deployment
project. The basic setup process works fine. Now I want to get a little
fancier.
I need to have the setup process check for the existence of the .NET
Framework and install it if it is not present. How do I do this?
To carry this even a step further, how do I detect the VERSION of .NET...

Hello All,
I'm running into a problem that I don't know how to solve (properly,
at least).
Our web servers are running Win2K and have Framework v1.0.3705 running
on them.
We have a DLL that we use to verify product registration information
from our clients.

I am dynamically creating TextArea and drop-down lists in ASP.NET using
something like HtmlTextArea eachTextArea = new HtmlTextArea();
I tried to set the "name" of these TextAreas, etc. (e.g. <textarea
name="NameOfTextArea" rows="5" cols="60">some text area</textarea>), as I
want to then dynamically read back the controls' values
Setting the ID attributes doesn't work, nor does the following:...

Hi,
I've created a setup application for my app and currently it checks
for the .NET framework installation. If it doesn't exist, it prompts
the user to download from the internet. The file is located on the
disk - how can I make setup use that file if it doesn't find it
installed? I've googled but all I've come up with is a version 1
framework setup bootstrap file.
Any help or links to instructions/files would be greatly appreciated.

I am reposting in this group after getting no response for a week in the
deployment group.
I have a setup project that uses custom actions. The project installs and
runs fine on machines that have the .NET framework 1.1, but fails on machines
that have .NET framework 1.1 SP1. The specific error message is:
"Unable to get installer types in the <assembly path> assembly. One or more
of the types in the assembly unable to load"

Hi there,
Please consider this string of events, 'A' being a client and 'B' being
me,
A) Your application doesn't work....
B) Please insure the correct version of the framework is
installed, that being 1.0 needs service pack 3 and 1.1 needs service pack 1.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
