question on VS 2005 Launch

Hi,

Seen on the VS.NET 2005 Launch page : >>All attendees will receive a full
version of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and Visual Studio 2005 Standard
Edition.<<

Will this version be crippled (in time) or will this truly be the full
(Standard) version?

Cheers,
Dan

AFAIK, these are license limited products, not time bombed. I have no
confirmation on that, but it would make sense. The Standard will be fine to
learn, but pro developers will likely upgrade. The SQL Server will most
likely only have a few CALs (5 would be my guess, but that is a guess), which
will mean licenses for unlimited use or more than 5 users; once again,
businesses will upgrade.

It is a good deal for the attendies, however. :-)

Hello, I am trying to use vs.net 2005 to migrate a project originally in vs.net 2003. I started with creation of a "web site", and then created folders for each component of the site. I read somewhere that each folder under the "web site" is compiled in separate assembly. I however, did not find that the "web site" creation in vs.net 2005 created any AssemblyInfo.cs file.

Thought I would let everyone know that Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition is now available for download: FREE............ Until I can get Visual Studio 2005 PRO ( or maybe even Standard Edition) this will at least keep me going! Here's the link for those interested: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vb/

Hello, I have a few questions about the 2005 editions of VB.NET and VS as a whole. Is the only stand alone VB.NET the express edition? In looking at the standard VS.NET 2005, it says deployment is "Click Once". What does that mean? Can you create msi's with the standard?

I'm starting an n-tier application with an ASP.NET 2.0 presentation layer, a business layer, a data access layer, and a SQL Server 2005 database, and I have a question. In the business and data access layers, should I use static methods? Or, should I code the classes so that they have to be instantiated? I've seen examples of both, and I'm not sure which is the "preferred" or "best" way. Thanks.

Hi all. I recently made a program to retreive the process ID of a process. It is written in C/C++ and works fine when I launch it from Visual Studio 2005. However, when i launch it from a command prompt or from explorer, it only returns a new line for the process ID. GetLastError() returns 0. I dont understand why this happens seeing as how it works fine from VS. I would like to know how to fix this. Thanks in advance.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
