Does anyone know where you can actually purchase vs2005 ? None of the
online stores I've contacted know anything about it, and Microsoft's
links for purchasing VS2005 all point to VS2003 pages. Anyone have it
actually available for purchase at this time?

Hi,

You download a free version of the express editions here

Purchase being the key word here :)

But to me the important question is: From where can I purchase Visual Studio
Professional 2005 upgrade?

The only two vendors whom I found offering it had it not being available for
some time:
Amazon around Nov 28 and Programmer's Paradise around Nov 17.

I think the definition of release has been reworked by Microsoft to mean
something other than what it means to me. Possibly they mean it has been
released to manufacture.

Hi . Due to Microsoft's roadmap for years 2004-2005 , Visual Studio codenamed "Orcas" should be released in 2005 . But , as we know , Visual Studio codenamed "Whidbey" (which was originally planned to be released in 2004) will be released in 2005 . In addition , it was written in the MS Roadmap document that Visual Studio "Orcas" will use the interface of Windows Longhorn . Due to MS site , Windows Longhorn should be released in...

I'm using Visual Studio, with ASP.NET. Is VSS on a separate CD. Also, is it possible to use the VSS beta (2005) with .NET if I'm not using the .NET beta. And finally, where do I get the VSS beta... when I go to msdn, it just directs me to a page with Whidbey downloads.... nothing mentioned on VSS TY Jason Shohet

I haven't seen anyone mention it here yet so I thought it would be worth noting that MS has apparently released VS 2005 Service Pack 1. It's available at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=BB4A75AB-E2D4-4C96-B39D-37BAF6B5B1DC&displaylang=en A bit of a big download, but hopefully it will be worth it. --

I am an ASP.NET developer, and Visual Studio 2005 seems to have stopped declaring the controls that I add in the *.designer.vb files, therefore forcing me to manually add them before I can use them in code that I write in the *.aspx.vb and *.ascx.vb files. Why is it no longer automatically declaring the controls? Is there a way to manually force Visual Studio 2005 to regenerate these files? Is there a setting somewhere that could have...

This is driving me mad. I have Visual Studio.NET PRO 2005 installed on my machine at work. I want to write a web service. I find lots of tutorials on how to do this with Visual Studio.NET; some are even Visual Studio.NET 2005. These tutorials all have screenshots of the "Visual Studio Installed Templates" under Visual C#. Here is one example: http://webproject.scottgu.com/CSharp/HelloWorld/Helloworld.aspx

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
