I want to access data from a network computer in window application

I am working with a window application which will run on every computer
on a network.

but data will be only one machine on network.
i am giving in connection string like..

connectionStrin g = "Provider=Micro soft.Jet.OLEDB. 4.0;Data
Source=C:\\Inet pub\\wwwroot\\p roject\\combo.m db";

it is working only that machine where data "combo.mdb" and is not
working other machine on network

Any help plz

Sonu,

Right, because C is a local drive. What you want to do is place that
database file on a network share, and then access that in your program, like
this:

\\my_machine\sh ared\data\combo .mdb

Also, it should be noted that if you have more than a few machines
accessing the same MDB file at the same time, performance is going to be
horrendous, and you should consider moving to SQL Server (you can use SQL
Server express if your organization is not that large). You will get MUCH
better scalability.

Hope this helps.

I have Access 2000 installed on a machine and I create the MDE just fine. When I copy the MDE file over to another machine that has Access 2000 installed, the references are hosed and I get unable to find function error. There are no third party controls in the application. This target machine is on a network requiring domain login, but the user is set up as a Local Administrator. Any ideas or code that I can use to work arount this...

Hi, I've been using an Access application I wrote for an office with the front-end stored on all computers and the back-end on one of them serving as an Access file server. Now we're moving to a 2nd office 15 minutes down the road. Only one office will be open at a time, so theoretically it'd be possible to copy the back-end manually every night from one office to another, but frankly, that's pretty annoying.

I have a form which the user must complete before closing. I have disabled the window x button and use my own exit button. When selected it checks to see if the user has completed the entries otherwise it cancels the close. However, the user can still right click on the task bar and close my application. Is there any way of preventing this. Thanks Alex

I am working on an issue where and ASP.NET web application on one computer (A) needs to access files on a network mapped drive (B). This application uses as DSN on (A) that maps a proprietory ODBC driver to data on a (B). The DSN directory path points to mapped network drive mounted on (A). When the ASP.NET application reaches the point where the ODBC drive is called to fill a DataSet it throws the following exeption:

I need to access some data on a server. I can access it directly using UNC (i.e. \\ComputerName\ShareName\Path\FileName) or using a mapped network drive resource (S:\Path\FileName). Here is my problem: my vb.net program has problems with UNC. If the UNC server is restarted or goes off-line, my VB.net program crashes. The code for UNC access to the file is included below and is put in the tick event of a form timer control running every...

Is there a way to find out where an application was created from? i.e. - work or home i.e. - if application sits on a (work) server/network, the IT people know the application is sitting there, but is there a way they can find out if that application was put there from a CD or email or created at work? Hint: It's not on a client/server database, just native jet database mdb created on Access 2003 (default 2000)...

Hello, I am trying to develop a database solution for an organisation in Indonesia. This organization has a number of offices and users throughout the country. They all need to maintain their own data, but I also need to create a central database, to store all of the data, and share data between the individual users. The problem is that the internet connections are not reliable, so a online solution isn't possible. I am planning to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
