Why can't the class designer of VS 2005 visualize the classes and the
class hierarchy in UML? What options do I have if I want to
automatically create a uml Diagramm of my c# classes in UML ?

I'm getting the following error when I build a Class Library project:
Embedding manifest...
Project : error PRJ0002 : Error result 1 returned from
'C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe'.
It happens with every the of C++ project I try to build. Not just Class
Libraries, but a plain Windows Form Application as well.
I've tried creating new projects with nothing but shell built by the Wizard,
but I still get the error.

I generated a .cs class from a .xsd schema using the xsd.exe tool from Visual
Studio 2005 and noticed that is generating duplicate class declarations. This
happens because of my schema structure. I have an element, <QuestionList>,
that is a set of <Questionelements that is defined at the root of the
schema and but it can also be defined as child of an element <QuestionGroup>.
The tool, instead of generation a class for the QuestionList...

When I worked with Delphi, they always included in the box a large wall
poster depicting every class (starting with TObject) and showing the
child classes from there. There was also a .pdf file showing the same.
I found two wall posters with the VS 2005 Pro package but nothing on the
scale of showing every class in VB and their descendants. Does such a
visual aid exist, either as a poster or .pdf file? While I can look
through the MSDN...

I'm porting code from Windows to UNIX and ran into a problem with
dynamic_cast. Imagine a class hierarchy with three levels: class Level2
derives from Level1 which derives from Base. If you look now at this code:
Base *b = new Level2();
Level1 *l1 = dynamic_cast<Level1*>(b);
Should dynamic_cast return a valid pointer or 0? I wonder as Visual Studio
2005 returns a valid pointer while g++ 3.4.6 returns 0. Both compilers work
as expected...

I have a 2 form project in VS2005 that now hangs whenever I try to do
anything with the second form. This seems to have started when I added some
SQL tables from a Pervasive v.9 database using the Pervasive ODBC driver.
The devenv.exe process hangs and will not respond with about 50% cpu usage
and about 100 megs of memory used.
I am running it on an Athlon 64 bit dual core with 32 bit Windows XP pro. I
have 2 megs of memory so I don't...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
