Capturing getting and losing focus events to an application

Without having to code the GotFocus and LostFocus events of every form,
as I have many in my application, is there an easier way to capture the
action when the user switches my application to foreground or
background processing?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to capture a textbox's key event when a user uses the tab key without entering any data. I put a stop statememt in the KeyDown, KeyPress, and KeyUp events and I've tried the form's keypreview property both ways. What am I missing? Thanks. Matthew Wells MWells@NumberCruncher.com

In the context of LATEX, some Pythonista asked what the big successes of Lisp were. I think there were at least three *big* successes. a. orbitz.com web site uses Lisp for algorithms, etc. b. Yahoo store was originally written in Lisp. c. Emacs The issues with these will probably come up, so I might as well mention them myself (which will also make this a more balanced

I'm struggling with the JavaScript blur event. I have an activex control that I need to interact with when a window loses focus, namely to instruct it to give up control of a barcode scanner so that the application being brought foreward can take control. It has been my observation that when I set the window.onblur function, the window will gain focus and then immediately lose focus (blur) to the first field, button, or whatever that is...

Hi there, I need to write an application which should monitor user activity client-side and transmit captured information to a central server. User activity means application usage and "internet activity" (browsing, FTP, or whatever). For the application usage part I decided to implement WMI Win32_Process events which will do fine; however I need a solid approach for the internet activity part - some advice would be greatly...

Can someone help me enhance this code snippet which works only for IE so that it will also work for Firefox? I have been trying all sorts of things and have gotten to where I can capture the keydown and keypress events in Firefox, but then I can't seem to get the key code. I also don't know if the window.event.srcElement.type works with Firefox or if the onkeydown="return false" is valid in Firefox. I have this Javascript at the end of...

Hello, I have been playing with various Googled solutions for capturing the <Enter> key to suppress form submission. My first question is whether anyone has a script that works in all common browsers? The script bellow is IE only. It fails FF 1.0 and NN 7. Also, if I can trap the keypress I would like to use it to tab to the next tabindex.

The problem: I want to know, definitively when a slider loses focus after a user has started sliding and hasn't released the mouse yet. It appears that this is captured with the WM_ACTIVATEAPP message but this only goes to the form and I want it in the user control that maybe very much removed from the form's knowledge; i.e. the form may launch a 3rd party form that, upon a call back, decides to launch other form that has my user control...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
