Creating database roles on analysis services

I need to create a windows application (using C#) that creates/assigns and
retrieves database roles on Analysis Services. While I can get the users from
the "Members" table on SQL Server, I am having a problem in creating roles
for these same users on Analysis Services (giving them access to cubes).
I was able to assign roles using DSO when this was a web application. But
since this needs to be a windows application, is there anything similiar to
DSO that will allow such creation of roles?

Any help is very much appreciate.

Hello, I know there is sp_addrole and sp_droprole to create roles. I just found out that I could not use these two statements in an application because the application is interacting with the database within transactions through ODBC (SQLServer complains that these two stored procedures cannot be executed within transactions). Is there an alternative way of creating and dropping roles in plain SQL?

Greetings, Although, this relates to Analysis Services administration, I thought I'd post it here in case someone with the administrative side of SQL Server who subscribes to this Group may also know Analysis Services and DSO as well. I have a need to run Analysis Services on a single Server instance, but obtaining its data from a SQL Server Cluster. I gather Analysis Services is not designed to work within a SQL Cluster. However, the

I'm building a new C# web application that will provide my company some administrative operations that were previously only completed by tweaking the data in the database. 1. Encrypted password authentication 2. "Group" level permissions that allow permission overrides for specific users 3. Ability to set permissions to view, edit, and read only - by user or role. 4. Ability to set permissions based on data - certain users can only see

Hi, I've been trying to implement a more OOP oriented approach to dealing with user security on one of my websites, and I am trying to validate the user against an array of roles, however I am struggling with a type error: The argument ROLES passed to function setRoles() is not of type array. If the component name is specified as a type of this argument, the reason for this error might be that a definition file for such component...

hi, (I want someone to check if my idea is utterly stupid or ok??) I have a mid complex app for a hotel that needs a fine grained user security system. In other words an admin should be able to deny/grant specific access to users like Ability to make a Reservation or the ability to print reports. Now, I'm thinking the business objects could take something like:

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
