I was at a Microsoft sales presentation last week for the new version
of SQL Server, Yukon. They had an extensive presentation on SQL
Server and Reporting Services but didn't mention Analysis Services.
When I asked about the future of the product the MS Sales rep couldn't
give me any info. When I looked at the big product chart I got at the
presntation, Analysis Services wasn't on it. There was just box
refering to Reporting Services...

Hello,
I know there is sp_addrole and sp_droprole to create roles. I just
found out that I could not use these two statements in an application
because the application is interacting with the database within
transactions through ODBC (SQLServer complains that these two stored
procedures cannot be executed within transactions).
Is there an alternative way of creating and dropping roles in plain
SQL?

Help! Can anyone show me how to programmatically create database roles on
Analysis Services? I'm using .NET C# but using a web page application. I was
able to create members for an existing role that was created manually, but I
need to be able to create new roles programmatically.

Server who subscribes to this Group may also know Analysis Services and
DSO as well.
I have a need to run Analysis Services on a single Server instance, but
