printing using shellexecute - retrieving name of printed file

We are writing an app that automates printing of documents of different
types. These documents are printed to PostScript files, not to a
printer. The app uses shellExecute with the "printto" verb (and the
Process class). This is a server app which requires that everything is
done without user intevention.
The problem is that we need to grab these PostScript files after
they've been printed, for further processing. Is there a way to set the
name of the file that will be printed so we can be sure we're
retrieving the correct file (not some random file that was printed by
someone else for a different purpose - this server may be used for
other things as well)? How can we track the print process and know when
an app is stuck (e.g. Word is trying to print a doc file but gets stuck
on some user prompt) so that we can handle them without user
intervention?
Help will be strongly appreciated... :)

I am having a problem with printing selected pages. Actually, the problem isn't with printing selected pages as it is more to do with having blank pages print for those pages that have not been selected. For example, if I were to have 5 pages with every second page printing, I would get the following results: Page 1 = Print OK Page 2 = Blank Page 3 = Print OK Page 4 = Blank

I am retrieving a pdf file from a database blob field. I want to be able to print it out on a printer now. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this. I've seen the RawPrinterHelper class on MSDN but it doesn't work with pdf's since they are in postscript and not RAW format. Also the pdf.ocx print method requires you to load a pdf from disk, which I'm not doing here. I've also tried the ShellExecute method but once again it requires the pdf...

I am trying to print a graphic file (tif) and also use the PrintPreview control, the PageSetup control, and the Print dialog control. The code attached is a concatination of two examples taken out of a Microsoft book, "Visual Basic,Net Step by Step" in Chapter 18. All but the bottom two subroutines will open a text file, and then allow me to use the above controls, example 1. The bottom two subroutines will print a graphic file, example...

Hello, I am using the ShellExecute feature in VBA to print files with various types. This feature will open documents in its native format and print them before closing out. I am using the MS Access "DoCmd.OpenReport" command to print document separators containing the file name and path of the next document (slipsheet). This feature works fine except for one thing: the slipsheets are being printed/inserted randomly in the middle of...

We have been printing pdf files through Adobe, from Access for several years. Adobe version 5.0 is currently installed. Recently we have received PDF files that were created under the Adobe 7.0 version. When trying to view a file manually Adobe 5.0 displays a pop up message: "This file may contain newer information than this viewer can support. It may not open or display correctly". There is a check box with the pop-up that says,...

My pages are delivered as application/xhtml+xml for all non-MS web clients, and as text/xml for all MS web clients (Internet Explorer). My flash content was originally brought in via the “flash satay” method, but I have since used some server-side magic do deliver one <objecttag

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
