Printing PDF files created with ADobe 7.0

We have been printing pdf files through Adobe, from Access for
several years. Adobe version 5.0 is currently installed. Recently we
have received PDF files that were created under the Adobe 7.0 version.
When trying to view a file manually Adobe 5.0 displays a pop up
message:

"This file may contain newer information than this viewer can
support. It may not open or display correctly". There is a check
box with the pop-up that says, "Do not show this message again" but
it only lasts for the current instantiation of Adobe. If Adobe closes,
that flag is lost.

When printing a list of file with VBA, the earlier version PDFs
print but the newer versions do not. There is no pop-up so the
situation is not obvious to the user.

To sum that up, the pdf files could be printed manually, but when
printing from VBA a list of files that are intermixed 5.0 and 7.0, the
7.0 files do not print.
I use the following call:
ShellExecute Calling.hwnd, "print", PathName, "", 0, SW_SHOWNORMAL

This is in the Declaration area:
' From Google News Group - How to Hyperlink 08/21/05
Private Declare Function WinAPI_ShellExe cute Lib "shell32.dl l" Alias _
"ShellExecu teA" (ByVal hwnd As Long, ByVal lpOperation As String, _
ByVal lpFile As String, ByVal lpParameters As String, _
ByVal lpDirectory As String, ByVal nShowCmd As Long) As Long

Of course, upgrading to Adobe 7.0 would work but there is
resistance from our users to make the change. Is there any switch
setting in the above call, or a way to use the Parameters string to
suppress error messages? I am checking the return value but I get 42
whether it prints or not.

I am currently at a site where some users have Adobe Reader/Distiller 6 installed on their PC's and I need to provide the ability to save reports as pdf files. Searching the internet I found a number of sites that described how to do this, but they involved writing to the registry. As this is an soe site I am unable to modify the registry. Without doing this I gather I cannot preset the file name or path of the pdf file to be created. ...

I have looked through many newsgroups to see how I can print several pdf documents to a printer, from Access using vba. The documents are scans of images, so I don't think they can be open through Word as text files. Ideally, I would like to use more solid code other than Shell, but it seems that it is only the way. Using switches. /h /p, I think!! I do not alot about using switches and the Shell command, but would like my code to do...

This is the approach I used to automate printing of Microsoft Access reports to PDF format i.e. unattended and without annoying "Save As..." dialogs, and - more importantly - without having to use a commercial program such as Adobe Acrobat and its associated API. The technique uses Ghostscript and Redirection Port Monitor - two free programs for creating PDF documents provided free by Russell Lang. The actual automation requires VBA...

Here is some code that I have adapted slightly. It allows a report to be printed to a specific location. It works by calling SaveReportAsPDF and specifying the access report name, and the root directory to which the filename should be saved. The routine adjusts registry values to achieve its aim. Now, it works, but not quite as I would like it. I originally thought that I would be able to adjust a registry key (such as...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
