Hi folks. I'm currently in the midst of building an explorer - like viewer
for a bigger project I'm going to be working on soon. When building the
class for my Treeview and Listview controls, I'm using the ExtractIconEx API
function (see code below). I found that all the icons windows uses are not
necessarily in the Shell32.dll file, though. I did some digging, and found
a few other places where Icon files are being pulled from to be...

(Using VB'2003)
Is there a "recommended" size for TreeView icons these days?
I've rummaged around MSDN and Google and can't find anything that
suggests "For best results, icons should be such-and-such a size".
Any recommendations?
TIA,
Phill W.

I'm new to posting but have been using past help so I come seeking some.
I'm using VB.NET 2002 writing a form that contains both a TreeView and a ListView. I'm using the commonly mentioned SHFILEINFO to get icons for known file types. For a while I was having a problem with a black border around them until I learned you use a <filename>.exe.manifest file, which got rid of the borders.
This seemed to work until I decided to make a custom...

hi,
Here is what i want to do.
I am making a file and folder browser similar to Windows Explorer with a treeview and listview..
In that, i get icons and thumbnails of a particular file/folder from a function(getMyIcon()) which interacts with shell to get icons and updates the two imagelists( for small and large icons).this in turn is used to update a listview to show the file/folder name and the icons.
The problem is the UI becomes...

Hello. I'm using a treeview control on my Access 2007 form. The treeview will be used to show the directory structure of a given file path. I've been able to successfully populate the nodes on the treeview. What I don't know how to do is locate the appropriate icons to place next to the nodes. Or, put another way, how to I query local computer's OS to find out which icon goes with each file?
For example, I want to display folder icon...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
