I currently have two SQL server books for MS SQL Server 2000. One is a
prep book for the 70-229 exam, the other is a Wrox book: "professional
SQL Server 2000 Programming."
I'm looking for more T-SQL books that give me PRACTICAL tips on
writing advanced queries. What book do you refer to? Please post them.

Hiya guys,
I saw this (C++ Programmer's Reference by Herbert Schildt) book in the
library today, and wondered what the experienced programmer thought about it
before I decided to dive in and get it.
Most of the posts I've read seem to have an opinion of a wide variety of
books, yet I did a google search of this group and didn't find much - maybe
the odd mention of the author.

I wrote a template class that takes a function prototype and lets you
store and call a C-level function, like this:
inline string SampleFunction(int, bool) {..}
functor<string (int, bool)> myFunctor = SampleFunction;
string result = myFunctor(7, true);
Works great thanks to the help from this group. Here's the guts so far
for two-arity:

I want to use the javascript dom to reference the field of a record in a
multi-record html form when that field has been changed. How do I reference
the field? I have a JavaScript function coded as:

var zownerName = document.updOwners.ownerName.value
document.updOwners.mysql_update.value = zownerID
document.updOwners.newName.value = zownerName
I have tried calling it from onclick for...

I am having some trouble referencing an Application("myVar") variable from within a module.vb file on my ASP.NET site.
According to the documentation I should be able to reference System.Web.HttpApplication but it does not seem to like that one bit.
I also have a MSXML2.DOMDocument30 defined as a public object within the vb module which is loaded during the application start up with a bunch of XML. What is weird is that the data contained...

Hi all,
I'm searching for a few good books on asp.net and c#. I'm afraid of buying
books here in denmark that i cant read though before i get them, becuase 90%
of them are just pure junk. I dont need 3 chapters on object oriented
programming or c# inside a asp.net book.
Looking mainly for reference books or tactics books that would cover all
aspects of asp.net, like security, controls, session managment, web.config
and so on.

This is my first Database course, and we are going to have two projects in
oracle (which I know nothing about).
The professor suggested
(1) Oracle 9i Programming: A Primer (Paperback)
by Rajshekhar Sunderraman

I did a search on amazon, and found those two books with good reviews:

a spinlock to query the DataBase object's status to let the SmrtPtr
know that the object's been deleted?:

class SmrtPtrDB
{
public:
SmrtPtrDB():num(0){}

as "31":

unsigned char *p = ptr;

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
