I used to be able to control one of our routers using a serial port, but I
don't remember the protocol or router model. Each router manufacturer seems
to have different access points, have you checked your router manual?

Open a socket

Send the command as a byte stream, wait for response.

Look at sample code for implementing a ftp socket and you might get some
ideas.

My code starts a TCP/IP socket listener and waits for incoming connections. This works fine on my system and my test system but I have a customer who say it does not work on their system. As far as I can tell the problem is they are using a DSL modem with a router internal to it. So basically my software is listening to IP address 10.0.0.3 but the external connection is trying to connect to xx.xx.xx.xx on the internet which in concept...

Today something weird happened: I bought myself a new wireless router for home, got it set up, and everything was great. Browsing, email, even Shareaza p2p. Until I tried to use the ASP.NET 2 menus on one of my apps (hosted remotely). The menu options just wouldn't work, the browser just sitting there waiting for a response for ever. Not all menu options though, only the ones requiring postback. Hyperlink

Hello, I've been trying to create a WCF SOAP Router Service that can forward not just the message body but also any security headers set by the originator of the message. The destination service I'm routing messages to uses WSHttpBinding, SSL with UserName/Password client credentials. Using guidance from the Technology samples I can create a router that forwards messages without security credentils but not with them. Can anybody point me...

Hi - I just bought an Asus laptop with wireless capabilities. I have a desktop that I've used for years that is hooked up to Cox cable for high speed internet through a Motorola SG5120 cable modem. The modem is ethernet / USB compatible, but it currently hooks to my desktop with a USB cable. I bought a Linksys wireless router last night and tried to install. The first problem was that I couldn't hook the USB cable from the desktop...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
